Chapter 42

Sophia walked slowly and was hit by someone by accident.She leaned back but was supported by a
pair of hands.

Sophia straightened her posture, and the aroma of a guy she knew drifted from the tip of her nose.

"Thank you, President Evans’ she said as she hurriedly retreated.

She didn't want her colleague to notice anything unusual.

Patrick's gaze landed on Sophia's dress, "The dress you are wearing today is very beautiful"

He said softly before taking a step forward and walking inside.

Sophia felt warm and touched her face.She didn't think her dress today was particularly noteworthy.

Why did he praise her then? When she arrived at the General Manager Office, Jenelyn was playing
with her phone.

Perhaps she noticed that someone arrived in the office so she raised her head.

At that time Jenelyn couldn't help but widen her eyes when she saw Sophia.

Jenelyn remarked, "Wow, Sophia, you look very different today!"

"What's wrong?" Sophia asked as she lowered her head and tugged her skirt, feeling uncomfortable.

Fiona was the one who helped her choose out her outfit today.

She was a particularly lazy person who disliked flaunting, therefore she never put in any effort into the
clothes she was wearing.

She abruptly changed her style today.



On the way to the office she was uncomfortable and felt as if everyone was staring at her.

Jenelyn said, "I feel that you've transformed into a different person with this dress and these high heels!
It's so gorgeous!"

Jenelyn couldn't help but stand up and circle around Sophia a few times before saying, "So our Sophia
is a great beauty, why didn't I notice it before?"

"How can it be as exaggerated as you say?" Sophia said while smiling.

"I only changed into a new style of clothing, and now you two say that I look gorgeous..."

With a shake of her head, Jenelyn expressed her disapproval of Sophia's statement.She really didn't
lie.

Today's Sophia looked really attractive.

Sophia put down her bag and sat on her chair.She couldn't help but take a deep breath and wished that
this frantic morning would end soon.

At lunchtime, Jenelyn, Theresa, and Sophia sat together at the dining table of the general manager's
lounge to eat.

Jenelyn had a lively personality and loved to gossip and chat the most.

Of course, she would not miss such a good opportunity to relieve herself to her heart's content.

"Hey, I heard some rumors recently, do you want to hear them?"

Both Theresa and Meredith had recently graduated from university.

They were quite interested and agreed to listen right away.



"Didn't I say before that my sister's boyfriend's cousin used to be old friends with President Evans? He
said that the main reason why President Evans and Vice President Clifford aren't married yet despite
being in love for so many years is..."

Jenelyn paused for a moment before continuing, "because President Evans was married before and
was deeply hurt by his ex-wife, so he was afraid of getting married, so he dragged it out."

Theresa expressed her surprise, "Really? Didn't you say that President Evans is equal to the Pope
himself? Didn't you say that he has a pure body and mind and is worthy of our desires?"

Meredith nodded, "But I want to know more who is President Evans’ ex-wife.Why did she hurt our
President so badly? My heart hurts so much for him."

While the three of them were chatting enthusiastically, Sophia couldn't help but say lightheartedly,
"Perhaps what happened is the contrary, perhaps President Evans seriously hurt his ex-wife, so he
hesitated to get married again."

After she finished speaking, the three of them all looked at Sophia at the same time, as if to warn her
that she had said something wrong.

"Sophia, don't tell me you know some inside story?" Jenelyn detected a scent of rumor and followed

"You guys eat slowly.I'm done eating."

After Sophia had left, the three of them exchanged a few glances before returning their attention to
their meal.

Theresa took a bite of a vegetable from her dish and swallowed it whole.



Then she wondered after taking a piece, "Why is this vegetable not cooked? This will easily cause food
poisoning"

Jenelyn and Meredith didn't react since they did not like to eat vegetables.

"Fortunately, Meredith and I do not particularly like vegetables" Jenelyn said, "but didn't Sophia eat one
just now?"

Jenelyn assumed it was just a casual discussion during their mealtime, but she had not expected
Sophia to show signs of mild food poisoning in the afternoon.

Sophia had always boasted about how healthy her body was.

This time, though, she experienced dizziness, nausea, and fatigue over her entire body.

And she was worried that she wouldn't be able to keep it together.

After taking a leave, Sophia immediately went to the hospital.

After the examination, the doctor assessed that she was not in a serious condition, so he prescribed
medication and advised her to drink more water and sleep in a bed.

Sophia thanked the doctor walked out the door but she didn't expect to bump into someone.

The other party was dressed like a doctor, was very young, and was also tall as Sophia barely reached
his shoulder.

Sophia's line of sight inadvertently swept over his work card, which had the words attending doctor’
written on it.

Sophia could only think of one adjective to describe the male doctor, "promising."



The male doctor apologized, "Sorry, Miss Hill.I didn't look where I was walking..."

"You know who I am?"

Sophia was certain that she didn't know the man in front of her, but how did he know her last name?

"I entered your data in the medical records and your information was also written on your medical

Sophia felt uncomfortable and walked away without saying anything.

teacher, Doctor Eugene Davis, who was sitting at his desk.

Doctor Davis said to the male doctor who had just entered, "I didn't expect that you have a good
memory.

"Isn't he pitiful?" Doctor Davis asked.

"Explain what? Let's assume you are Sophia and I am Patrick.

Doctor Davis’ explanation was quite sensible and the male doctor was speechless.

When Sophia returned home, she climbed into her bed in a daze.

She had a really long dream after falling asleep.She dreamed about the day she left for Australia and
met Patrick.

He was a senior foreign student at Melbourne University.

She was used to seeing beards and muscles on foreigners and then when she saw aman with the
same skin color and hair like her in a foreign country.



The feeling was similar to that of finding an oasis in a desert.
