Ophelia Meyer didn’t back down. Instead, she kept talking, “That day, Mom was so angry that she was

“Alan doesn’t want you, but you keep on calling his mother mom.” Chloe Malan sarcastically poked a
sore spot.

months.”

Ophelia Meyer thought that she had a sassy clap back, but she was not aware that she was

Hoyle mom.” Chloe Malan said. Her voice wasn’t low, but she didn’t care whether she could hear it or
not.

Olive Steele patted her back, “Aren’t you tired? I’m tired listening to you get angry.”

Mrs. Steele too was tired but Chloe Malan had a point. She asked, “Does Mrs. Hoyle believe in
Buddhism?”

Chloe Malan laughed, “The more rich people believe in Buddhism, the more crime they commit. If they
are afraid of going to hell, they can just come here to seek a peace of mind.”



“Mom, let’s go home.” Olive Steele said.

“Don’t you have to say hello to your mother-in-law?” Mrs. Steele asked.
