Seeing Denise arrive, Timothy was surprised. “I thought Jojo invited me to dinner alone. Did she also invite you?”

Denise waited until Timothy had calmed down before she quietly grumble, “Can't you two find someone else to help

now, Johanna is pushing me toward you again...”

Initially, Timothy only mentioned that he was not getting along well with Johanna and asked for her help to keep an

Timothy stared silently at the ground for a while. He then stood up from his chair. “If you haven't eaten yet, eat

here before you go. I'll leave first.” He sounded tired.

“Looking for Daddy,” Asel answered in her sweet, childish voice. “Daddy hasn't come back yet. He told me before

that if he is still out there late, he must be with you, Mommy.”

Johanna guessed that Timothy and Denise must have finished their dinner by now. They might be watching a movie

or perhaps enjoying the evening breeze by the lake.

Asel curiously asked, “Mommy, will Daddy spend the night with you?”

“Your daddy isn't with me. He's busy with important matters,” Johanna said softly, seamlessly changing the subject.

Asel might have played quite hard today, for she fell asleep on the pillow while Johanna was only halfway through

the bedtime story.

She had just ended the video call when Timothy's call came through.
