Suddenly, a pair of heavy knocks reverberated on the door to the private room. The figure stationed at
the entrance stood tall and lean, exuding an air of understated composure.

“Get out.”

“Armand, do join me for a drink or two.” The instant Timothy noticed Armand's arrival, he promptly

Seeing him like this, Timothy asked, “You used to accept my wine when I offered it. Why abstain today?
Has Genevieve prohibited you?”

“You're aware, yet you still inquire?” Armand replied, his gaze fixed on Timothy.

Timothy indulged in another sip of his beverage, relishing the fiery sensation as it traced its path down
his throat. He mumbled, “Why does nobody care about me? Armand, would you watch over me? Tell
me to stop drinking.”

“Your secretary contacted me,” Armand popped open a bottle of mineral water. “What madness are you
up to now?”



“Jojo doesn't want me anymore,” Timothy murmured, a trace of sorrow tainting his tone. “I remained in
Zaidham for a few days, believing I had appeased her. Yet today, she went shopping with another man,
even assisting him in selecting clothes. It's been ages since she last helped me in choosing my attire...”

Armand found himself speechless. “Timothy, you're in your thirties, not your teens. Stop behaving like a
child.”

“Wouldn't you feel aggrieved if your wife was getting close to another man?” Timothy's heart grew
heavy as he articulated his thoughts, “She even admitted to having feelings for him, urging me to
divorce her sooner.”

“Did she tell you that herself?”

Timothy tugged at his lower lip, his tone earnest. “Do you think I'm joking? She expressed a desire to
move out, so I consented. I refrained from excessively intruding upon her. I even worked overtime at
night to improve my cooking skills, hoping to cook for her.”

“I've been so accommodating to her, and I was even willing to endure her silence, yet how could she go
off with another man? Am I insufficient?” He posed this query to Armand, while also pondering aloud,
“Must I rend open my heart to her, to showcase the depths of my affection?”

Timothy murmured, his head bowed, “Xylia is correct, why should I be so submissive?”

It was his neglect that had permitted Johanna to be entangled with Zephyr once again. After enduring a
stretch of insufferable anguish, he recognized his blunder, experienced regret, and had since been
striving to make amends.



He had been exceedingly cautious while trying to console Johanna, yet she exhibited no appreciation
for his efforts whatsoever.

After Timothy had vented his emotions, Armand ran a hand wearily over his brow and responded, “I've
said it before, Johanna's choice to distance herself from you doesn't mean she doesn't love you. Have
you ever considered that she might not have anything to do with that guy? When you confronted her in
a fit of jealousy over the photo, she might have wanted you to back off, so she intentionally misled you.”

“Why would she want me to back off?” Timothy asked.

“I have no idea either!” Armand retorted coldly, looking at the man whose brain appeared to be dulled
by the effects of alcohol.

Timothy sullenly downed another glass of wine.

Armand's attention was drawn to the two empty brandy bottles on the table. Concerned that Timothy
might succumb to excessive alcohol consumption, he swiftly confiscated his glass and instructed the
waiter to procure a hangover remedy.

Armand said, “Didn't you promise not to interfere with her private life? Why did you send someone to
follow her?”

“I haven't dispatched anyone to tail her,” Timothy slurred, reclining on the couch in an intoxicated
stupor. “The man appears to be the general manager of an entertainment company, and there's a
journalist shadowing him. I have an ex-girlfriend who had ties with that journalist. Coincidentally, she
was dining at Jazona Clubhouse today and crossed paths with me.”



Despite his inebriation, Timothy articulated his thoughts with a lucid and rational demeanor.

Hearing this, Armand responded in a meaningful tone, “What a coincidence—the journalist who was
tailing that man conveniently shares an acquaintance with your ex-girlfriend, and they even discussed
this situation.”

stature to stage this for her,” he rambled.
