dinner.

were having their New Year's Eve dinner.

It was around ten o'clock at night when they finally concluded dinner. Sally sent Robert home and had Stefan stay

Sally asked, “Have you had your New Year's Eve dinner?”

The restaurants everywhere were jam-packed that night. If Cooper had not been a regular at Golden Restaurant

and called in a favor with the restaurant's owner, Sally and the others would not have been able to dine there.

After a brief interval, Cooper asked, “Did you call me just to thank me?”

Biting her lower lip, Sally glanced at the floor-to-ceiling window. Another burst of fireworks blossomed in the night

sky. “There are fireworks here. They're beautiful.”

I miss you.

Sally was unable to bring herself to utter the words.

After all, she tended to be cold and could never speak such mushy words. Besides that, Cooper was not her lover.
