Pu Jianyi walked out of his office with documents in his head and looked up. He suddenly saw a girl walking in his direction from the lobby area.

He paused a little. Wasn’t that Comrade Tong Xuelu?
What was she doing here this time?
He was just about to walk over to her when Tong Xuelu was surrounded by a group of people.
He had no choice but to give up on that idea.
Su Xiuying’s neighbor surrounded Tong Xuelu and started recommending to her their sons or relatives.

Su Xiuying didn’t go far. She stopped after she had walked out of the police station.
Huang Xianglan walked up to her cousin and panicked when she saw Su Xiuying’s tear-stained face. “Cousin, what’s the matter? You… are you regretting it now?”
Su Xiuying wiped her tears away and shook her head. “No, I’m not regretting it. I, I just felt an indescribable sadness.”
She almost broke down when He Baogen begged her for her forgiveness on his knees earlier, promising that he would be nice to her and her daughter in the future.
They had had their fair share of good times before they had gotten married. Many times, she couldn’t figure out what had happened and how they ended up where they were now!
Huang Xianglan was single and has never been in a relationship. She had no idea what she could say to her cousin.
The two squatted on the side of the road for a little while and Tong Xuelu came out.
Tong Xuelu saw that Su Xiuying’s eyes were reddened, obviously from crying, but she wasn’t going to ask.
Seeing that she was walking over, Su Xiuying quickly collected herself and said, “Thank you so much for everything, Comrade Tong!”
Tong Xuelu waved her hand. “We are all working-class sisters. It’s only right for me to help you out. You don’t need to thank me. But you better hurry and sell off your man’s position and quickly divorce him before their sentencing is announced!”
Tong Xuelu wasn’t worried about whether the man would go and harass Su Xiuying and her daughter when he was released in a couple of years.
The reforming and opening of China would be taking place in a couple of years. If Su Xiuying truly worried that He Baogen would harass her and her daughter, she could very well move somewhere else with her daughter.
Su Xiuying paused for a little bit and said, “I’m so glad you reminded me of that, Comrade Tong. That would not have occurred to me otherwise. Oh right, Comrade Tong, I heard that you are looking for someone to trade your position with. What’s your thought on working at the government-operated restaurant?”
Tong Xuelu’s heart leaped but she didn’t let it show. “Why? Are you thinking about switching?”
Su Xiuying nodded. “Now that I have reported my mother-in-law and my husband, I can’t stay at the same job anymore. I will also need to find a new place to live. I wouldn’t want my child to hear what others would say about me.”
It was one thing being talked about. First and foremost, she worried about her daughter.
She wouldn’t be able to avoid it altogether by switching locations, but it would at least help some.
