The living room went silent for a few seconds after he had said that.
Mother Gu looked at her son-in-law and said, intimidated, “Yueshen, I felt that Muqing might not necessarily be behind this. Maybe Ah Fang was just accusing her. Perhaps we can wait until she is back to talk about it?”
All the others nodded in agreement when they heard that.
Su Yueshen was not surprised by their attitudes. “You still refused to believe it with the mounting evidence? I supposed even when she returned and admitted to it herself, you are still not going to turn her in to the police?”
Nobody said a word, but their expression said it all.
Gu Yilan was the one who finally stood up when she could no longer bear the way her family was looking at her. “Yueshan, it isn’t that we refused to believe it. It is just that we don’t understand why she did what she did!”
She couldn’t figure out why her cousin did what she did no matter how hard she tried!
They grew up together since they were children. They were closer than real sisters. Her cousin always had her best interest in mind.

Su Yueshen said, “I know what you want to say. You owe the Lai family a big favor, but after raising their daughter for all these years, you longer owe them anything.”

She had thought that the government would send over someone else to fill the role of manager of the restaurant after Liu Dongchang was gone. It never crossed her mind to take over that position.
Given her age and qualification, she didn’t stand a chance at all.
