He had yet to finish his thought when he heard a snickering coming from the entrance.
“The original poem goes like ‘once you’ve seen the ocean, no other bodies of water can measure up to it; once you’ve seen the clouds of Mt. Wu, no other clouds could measure up to that.’ You’ve mangled it all up. You can stop saying how you can relate to that emotion now.”
Pu Jianyi froze instantly. His face burned as though he had been slapped.
He turned with the intention to argue with Jiang Danhung but, as soon as he turned around, He was immediately met with a pair of tender eyes.
The person that he was looking at have thin, curvy brows, a petite nose and red lips. When she smiled, he thought he saw a winter scenery with snow on the trees looking like flowers blossoming.
Pu Jianyi was instantly stunned.
Seeing his stupid look, Jiang Danhung put down what she was carrying and said to Jiao Yunshi, “Let’s go help out outside.”
She worried that she would not be able to refrain herself if she kept staying to look at Pu Jianyi’s stupid face. It was the New Year after all and it was not good to get into a fight.
Jiao Yunshi was just about to nod when Wen Rugui suddenly looked up.
Seeing Wen Rugui’s face, Jiao Yunshi was startled. “What are you doing here, Comrade Wan?”
Wen Rugui looked at her, was taken aback a little, then asked, “And you are……?”
Jiao Yunshi’s face burned a little. “I’m Jiao Yunshi. I am here with Big Sister Danhung. I didn’t think I would run into you here.”
Wen Rugui, “This is my girlfriend’s place.”
His girlfriend’s place?
Jiao Yunshi was taken aback a little. That was to say that Tong Xuelu was his girlfriend.
Jiao Yunshi felt a sense of discomfort.
She had never told it to anyone and had long since gotten over Wen Rugui. But she worried whether others would think that was the reason she wanted to get to know Tong Xuelu if they ever found out.
Truthfully, she had no idea that Tong Xuelu was Wen Rugui’s girlfriend before she had come over. Jiang Danhung had only referred to Wen Rugui as Comrade Wan when she recounted her stories. As such, Jiao Yunshi had no way of knowing that Jiang Danhung was talking about Wen Rugui.
Noticing that Jiao Yunshi was somewhat pale, Jiang Danhung asked, concerned, “Are you alright?”

She definitely should not be staying in the kitchen if Wen Rugui was there.
She needed to keep her distance, just in case!
Pu Jianyi finally came around after Jiao Yunshi had walked away. “Rugui, you know that girl?”
Wen Rugui, “Mmhmm.”
Pu Jianyi’s eyes lit up. “Who is she? How come you have never mentioned her before?”
“She’s the daughter of my mentor. Why would I mention her to you?”
Pu Jianyi, “Ah, I see. Your mentor’s daughter. No wonder she was so scholarly!”
Wen Rugui looked at him. “Something is not right about you.”
Pu Jianyi elbowed him. “Rugui, I am not a bad catch objectively. Why don’t you matchmake for me and introduce me to Comrade Jiao?”
Wen Rugui frowned a little. “Didn’t you just say that you don’t want to be in a relationship, let alone getting married?”

Daylight was short in winter time and it was dark outside before it was even 6 o’clock.
As soon as it got dark outside, the barbeque grill started in the backyard.

Nobody had ever had barbeque before so it was a novelty for all.
Tong Xuelu brushed a layer of her homemade bbq sauce over the grilled meat and demonstrated it to everyone else.
When the bbq meats were done, their aroma filled the entire yard.
“That smells so good, Big Sister. Can I be the first to have some?”
Tong Jiaxin asked with longing in his eyes.
Tong Xuelu gave him a look. “You have the audacity to be the first to eat with all the elderlies around today?”
Tong Jiaxin was defeated instantly.
