When Tong Xuelu saw the letter, she felt that a heavy burden had finally been lifted off of her shoulder.
In the original novel, the Tong siblings’ misfortune stemmed from the old Tong family. Xie Jinhua, in particular. She was like an old witch.
As Tong Mianmian was violated when she was a child, she lived the rest of her life traumatized. And finally decided to take her own life. Tong Jiaming and Tong Jiaxin did not fare much better.

“Big Sister, what happened to Grandma… I mean Grandaunty would not affect us?” Tong Jiaming frowned.
Tong Xuelu shook her head. “You don’t need to worry about that. Grandpa had it all taken care of. We are the Xiao’s from now on. We are no longer the Tong’s.”
Tong Jiaxin, “I thought you and I are keeping our old surname?”
Tong Xuelu, “You can have more than one surname under the same household registrar. From now on, we belong to the Xiao household. It had nothing to do with what we use as our surname.”

Tong Xuelu could see her own breath and she really did not want to go to work.
