Chapter 266 - Tong Miammian's eyes welled up. (3)
Tong Xuelu walked out of the hospital. The sun was bright and warm on one’s body.
She hadn’t said anything to embarrass Mother Tong some more earlier not because she was worried or intimidated.
She simply felt that that was unnecessary.
Mother Tong had raised original owner. That was the truth. It would look bad even if she had an upper hand when it came to Mother Tong.
Besides, she was not in the habit of making just anyone her target.
Taking Liu Dongchang for example, she never set her target on trash.
She would just stay away from the Tong family even more.
As long as Tong Zhenzhen leave her alone, they could all be amicable.

After returning to the restaurant, Tong Xuelu noticed that Meng Qingqing’s eyes were even more swollen and it looked as though she had cried.
“Did something happen to you, Qingqing?”
Meng Qingqing’s eyes were beet red. She was blinking nonstop and her lips tightened into a straight line.
Chef Meng was not at the restaurant right now so Tong Xuelu felt that taking care of Meng Qingqing was her responsibility.
As such, she took Meng Qingqing to a corner by her hand and said to her, “Qingqing, you can tell me what it is if you trust me. I will help you as long as it is something that is within my ability.”
Meng Qingqing bit down on her lower lip. Frowning, she said, “Xuelu, I……”
Suddenly, footsteps could be heard from outside the door. The two girls looked up and saw Liu Dongchang walking in with his feet pointing outward.
Meng Qingqing looked like a startled little animal when she saw Liu Dongchang. She shuddered and said, “I forgot to sweep the alleyway this morning. I’ll do take care of that right now.”
Having said that, she walked out with her head lowered.
Tong Xuelu looked at her back and was in deep thought.
She paid special attention to Meng Qingqing and Liu Dongchang for the time that followed.
She noticed that Meng Qingqing had been avoiding Liu Dongchang and she was startled each time she caught sight of Liu Dongchang.
Liu Dongchang, on the other hand, would looked over at Meng Qingqing from time to time. The way he looked at her resembled the way that a predator was eying it’s prey. A dirty look would appear on him when he saw the fear in Meng Qingqing.
That gave Tong Xuelu a bad feeling.
Had Liu Dongchang made Meng Qingqing his target now that he had given up on her?
She had no problem telling Liu Dongchang off, but Meng Qingqing was timid and she doubt she would do such a thing.
The thought of it made Tong Xuelu’s face dropped.
Tong Xuelu was going to accompany Meng Qingqing on the way home after work, but her cousin showed up to pick her up.
With her cousin there, Meng Qingqing would not need Tong Xuelu to accompany her.
Tong Xuelu she heard a piercing shriek the moment that she walked inside her house. It sounded like it came from Xiao Lu.
She quickly hurried over after closing the door behind her and she saw Tong Jiaxin and Tong Mianmian bathing Xiao Lu.
Xiao Lu was so cold that it was shaking. Its feather were stuck to its body and it looked very pitiful.
Tong Xuelu was dumbfounded. “What are you guys doing here?”
Tong Mianmian quickly pitter pattered over to Tong Xuelu when she saw her. “Big Sister, we are bathing Xiao Lu!”
Tong Xuelu did not pick her up as she normally would. She said with a serious look. “I know that you are bathing Xiao Lu, but why are you doing that? Do you know that you will get Xiao Lu sick like that?”
Chickens cannot be bathed. They would clean themselves with sand.
The sun was already down now. Without the sun and no hair dryer at this day and age, Xiao Lu just might get sick from this.
Tong Mianmian was stunned. Her big limpid eyes blinked and they quickly welled up.
Tong Jiaxin, too, was stunned. His eyes rolled around, apparently realizing now that he was in trouble again.
Tong Xuelu walked over and dipped her hand into the water. The water was warm and she felt a little better.
She quickly grabbed some old clothes from inside the house and used it to dry Xiao Lu. She then made a coop for Xiao Lu inside the kitchen. With the stove in there, it was warmer than the outside.
Xiao Lu seemed to have been traumatized and would not eat or drink anything. Tong Xuelu worried that it would get sick.
Tong Jiaxin and Tong Mianmian realized that they had done something wrong and the two volunteered to stood by door as punishment.
Tong Jiaming quickly came out and join them. He said that it was also his fault for not stopping them.
Tong Xuelu let them stand there for two hours before she let them inside.
