Meng Qingqing waited until Liu Dongchang had left to make his purchases before she sneaked into the kitchen and said to Guo Weiping, “Xiao Guo, can you excuse us for a moment?”
Guo Weiping was taken aback a little but he nodded and went into the main dining hall.
Tan Xiaoyan had wanted to eavesdrop but now that Guo Weiping was out, she wasn’t able to anymore. She stared at him a few times.
Guo Weiping looked innocent.
Meng Qingqing twisted the corner of her clothes and stammered. “Xuelu, are you disappointed in me?”
Tong Xuelu finally turned toward her. “No, I am not disappointed as this is a big event in your life. The only person that you need to hold accountable for is yourself! I only have one question. Are you with Liu Dongchang voluntarily?”
Meng Qingqing’s eyes reddened again. She stammered for quite a while before she finally recounted what had happened in the last few days.
As it turned out, on her way home a few days ago, a large dog came out of nowhere and homed in on her. It chased after her madly.
She had been bitten by a dog when she was a child and was very afraid of dogs. She was so scared that tears started rolling down her cheeks. She ran as she cried and, when the dog was about to catch up to her, she came to a creek. She jumped into the river without thinking.

But she was first scared from the being chased by the dog and then from almost drowning. Her brain was not working and, naturally, would not have noticed that something was off.
She finally saw that the man who saved her was Liu Dongchang but it was already too late by then.
Many had witnessed Liu Dongchang holding onto her and that she had pressed her body against his. Her innocence was gone.
She had no other options other than to marry Liu Dongchang.
Liu Dongchang even took his clothes off and put it over her as he walked her home. Many had witnessed that and there was not much that she could do whether she liked it or not.
Tong Xuelu’s brows furrowed after she heard that.
There were just too many coincidences. Why was there a dog out of nowhere? And that Liu Dongchang happened to show up the minute that Meng Qingqing had jumped into the river?

Meng Qingqing shook her head and she bit down so hard on her lip that it turned white. “My grandpa is very conservative. He would not be okay with me not marrying him. He said he will disown me if I don’t marry Liu Dongchang!”
Tong Xuelu was disgusted all over again. “What about your folks? What was their opinion on it? And how about Chef Meng? Was he okay with it too?”
Meng Qingqing, “My parents will always listen to my grandpa. My uncle objected to it at first but my grandpa gave him a beating and told him that he would be banished from the family if he continued to object to it!
“Besides, Liu Dongchang went over to my place and said that he could get my brother a permanent position. Now my grandpa and my parents all think that he is a nice man.”
