Tong Xuelu went to work the next day.
As Tong Xuelu had been promoted to the manager of the restaurant, the server position opened up.
That, on top of the fact that Tan Xiaoyan had been fired, there were two openings for the server position.
As a compensation for Aunty Lin and Guo Weiping who were completely innocent in this whole event, the government allowed the two families to have first right of refusal in purchasing these two positions.
The Meng family purchased a server position for Meng Qingqing and Guo Weiping’s family gave the position to Guo Chunyu, his cousin.
When Tong Xuelu arrived at work, she saw Meng Qingqing, whom she hadn’t seen in a while and met Guo Chunyu for the first time.
Meng Qingqing looked to have lost some weight but she looked well-spirited. She smiled shyly when she saw Tong Xuelu.
Tong Xuelu nodded at Meng Qingqing before she turned and looked at Guo Chunyu.
Guo Chunyu was already married. She was 35 years old with a round face and chubby body. She looked easy going and welcoming.
Guo Chunyu smiled at Tong Xuelu when she noticed Tong Xuelu looking at her. “Good morning, Manager Tong. I am Guo Chunyu, Xiao Guo’s cousin. You can just call me Da Gao going forward!”
Tong Xuelu, “……”
What the heck is Dai Gao?
“I will just refer to you as Big Sister Chunyu.”
Guo Chunyu smiled and nodded. “That works too. Whichever you prefer, Manager.”
Tong Xuelu was pleased with Guo Chunyu’s attitude.
She was appointed the manager of the restaurant, but she was young. It would be a hassle if the new comer did like the fact that she was younger than them.
Tong Xuelu wasn’t disturbed by hassle; she just hated it.
Not to mention that this person was Guo Weiping’s cousin. If things didn’t go well, she was looking at more politics at work.
Tong Xuelu felt relieved when she saw how easy-going Guo Chunyu was.
Now that everyone was there, Tong Xuelu called for a meeting.
“I am going to be the manager of this restaurant starting today. I am like other managers in some ways and differ from them in others.
“Where I am similar to them, I ask that you keep the place clean. We will need to keep the floor and tables in the dining area, and the kitchen, front and alley areas clean. We shall be very thorough when it comes to that.”
Meng Qingqing and the others nodded.
Guo Chunyu was the newest of all of them but also the most eager one. “Don’t worry, Manager Tong, we will keep the place clean. I am the one who keeps my house clean. I will treat this restaurant as if it’s my own place from now on and I love my home!”
Tong Xuelu, “……”
Tong Xuelu felt that the way that Guo Chunyu said that was very comical. That, along with Guo Chunyu’s round face, made Tong Xuelu wanted to laugh.
That being said, it was noteworthy when an employee is eager. “That is very good attitude. We must treat the restaurant like it was our own house!”
Guo Chunyu’s smile brightened even more. “I love the restaurant. I love my home! Xiao Guo, join me here!”
Guo Weiping, blushing, said, “I love the restaurant. I love my home! Xiao Guo, join me here!”
Meng Qingqing, too, joined them in reciting the lines while blushing.
Tong Xuelu, “……”
She felt that Guo Chunyu would make a very good sales person in modern era.
She cleared her throat and went on. “What I differ from the others is that I do not want to see any one leaving the restaurant during work hours. As long as you can get your job done, I can make arrangements for time offs for everyone!”
The three employees’ eyes lit up when they heard that.
Working at the government-operated restaurant had always been others’ envy. One could eat very well here and also purchase the freshest of all ingredients.
The downside of it was that they had no time off with the exception of new year and major holidays. There was no time offs outside of that.
If they could have time off on a regular basis, that would just be perfect!
