Low and behold, Wen Rugui looked motionlessly at Sun Manrou laying on the ground for a long, long while.
Then, suddenly, right when Sun Manrou was about to say something, he turned around and took off running.
Sun Manrou, “? ? ?”
Looking at Wen Rugui who was running away at full speed, Sun Manrou was so shocked that her mouth dropped open.
When she recollected herself, she quickly said in a girly voice, “Where you going, Comrade Wen? My foot hurt so much……”
Wen Rugui shuddered when he heard the voice and picked up his speed even more. He was entirely gone from her sight in no time.

Wen Rugui ran all the way home and noticed that there was a stranger in the living room.
The man scanned him up and down like a machine gun with his eyes.
Wen Rugui had no idea who the man was but he greeted him politely anyway, “How do you do?”
Commander Xiao finally looked a little pleased.
Old Mr. Wen harrumphed. “You don’t need to greet this man. He’s just someone who refused to leave our house.”
Wen Rugui, “……”
Commander Xiao, “……”
Commander Xiao’s face was red from anger. “Hey, Old Stubborn, you should keep in mind that I am Xuelu’s real grandfather. Don’t come groveling when I object the two to be together!”
Wen Rugui was taken aback a little when he heard the “real grandfather” part. “What’s going on, Grandpa?”
Old Mr. Wen harrumphed again and said, “Pay him no attention. He’s just a half-assed grandfather. Besides, Xuelu just said that she would need to talk to her siblings about it. She hasn’t even decided whether she is going to recognize you as her grandfather!”
Commander Xiao felt that he had been stuck with a knife, “…………”
Seeing that the two were bickering and nobody explained what was going on to him, Wen Rugui headed toward the kitchen.
Tong Xuelu was making a chiffon cake for Uncle Zong.
Uncle Zong was a happy 50-year-old child. His cheeks were red and he secretly wanted to become Tong Xuelu’s foot soldier instead.
Wen Rugui could smell a very pleasing aroma as he walked over to the kitchen. “Uncle Zong, Xuelu, what are you two making?”
Tong Xuelu’s lips curved upward when she heard Wen Rugui’s voice. “You are back. I am making a chiffon cake for Uncle Zong.”
Uncle Zong smacked his own forehead and said, “I’ve forgotten to feed Xiao Ba and Xiao Jiu. I should go do that now.”
Having said that, he hurried off and left the kitchen to the two youngsters who rarely get to see each other.
Tong Xuelu secretly gave Uncle Zong a thumbs up.
Wen Rugui looked at Tong Xuelu with his ink-black eyes and asked, “I heard the old comrade outside saying that he is your real grandfather. What is going on?”
Tong Xuelu recounted what happened to him.
Wen Rugui frowned when he heard that Sun Manrou accused her of two-timing.
Tong Xuelu shoved a piece of the pork jerky that she had brought with her into his mouth and asked, “Were you rushing to get home? You ran so fast that you are sweating.”
Her fingers were white and distinguished, looking like green onions.
Seeing how she was feeding him as though he was a child, the tips of Wen Rugui’s ears turned red. “I ran into Sun Manrou on my way home. She fell onto the ground and asked me to help her up.”
Tong Xuelu raised her brows, “Well, did you?”
Wen Rugui shook his head like a rattle drum. “No, I turned and dashed.”
Tong Xuelu paused for a little and busted out laughing. “Why did you turn and dash?”
Wen Rugui looked at her with his black eyes. “I don’t like her. She bad mouthed you last time.”
Sun Manrou said that she worked with a bunch of men in the kitchen and implied that she had poor character. He disliked what she said.
Besides, he did not like touching other women or did he wish for them to touch him.
Tong Xuelu’s smile extended into her eyes. She glanced outside the kitchen and saw that Old Mr. Wen and Commander Xiao were still busying bickering with each other.
She leaned into Wen Rugui, stood on her tiptoes and gave him a light peck on his cheek.
