Tong Xuelu’s lips curved upward uncontrollably when she saw Wen Rugui. “You are here.”
Wen Rugui’s heart beat faster when he saw her big smile. “Yes, I am here to pick you up.”
As he spoke, he took from her what she had in her hand.
Tong Xuelu didn’t try to fight him for that. She handed everything to him so he could hang them from the handlebar before she jumped onto the backseat.
Wen Rugui recalled how she had put her arms around him the time in the alley and felt disappointed.
It would be so nice if there were no people around. That would she would be able to put her arms around him again.
He pushed that thought side and kicked off, heading toward the military compound with Tong Xuelu in his backseat.
The sky was particularly blue today and would really cheer a person up.
Tong Xuelu suddenly recalled something. “Oh right, do you have a coworker by the name of Zhou Yan?”
Wen Rugui nodded, “Yeah. Why do you ask?”
Tong Xuelu chuckled and told him about what happened at the post office the other day. “I just wasn’t sure if her Zhou Yan was your Zhou Yan.”
Wen Rugui’s lips tightened a little. “Yes, that was him. When he wrote to her last time, he had miswrote ‘parting’ as ‘farting’. His girlfriend was so mad that she wanted to break up with him.”
Tong Xuelu couldn't help but busted out laughing. That was so ridiculously funny.
She chuckled all the way.
Listening to her laughter, Wen Rugui felt that he was on cloud 9.
The arrived quickly at the military compound and the security guard recognized Tong Xuelu right away.
Wen Rugui did not introduce Tong Xuelu to him but brought her inside proudly.
Old Mr. Wan got up earlier than normal today and even fought over the bathroom with Wen Rugui.
Wen Rugui wanted to bathe and wash his hair and Old Mr. Wan wanted to do the same. Uncle Zong just wanted to shake his head when he saw that.
To put it in Old Mr. Wan’s own words, Wen Rugui needed to dress up to see his girlfriend, but he needed to dress up to meet his future granddaughter-in-law as well.
Perhaps pleased by the term “granddaughter-in-law", Wen Rugui voluntarily let Old Mr. Wan use the bathroom before him.
Arriving at the front of Wen Rugui’s house, Tong Xuelu Old Mr. Wan with a big smile and another old man as soon as she had gotten off the bicycle.
She paused for a little and remembered that this was Uncle Zong, Old Mr. Wan’s foot soilder.
Old Mr. Wan. “You are here, Xuelu. Come and have a seat inside.”
Tong Xuelu took the snacks that she had brought with her from the handlebar of the bicycle. “I’ve brought some snacks with me, Grandpa Wan. I hope you will enjoy them.”
Old Mr. Wan’s eyes lit up and his smile became brighter. “I am sure I will enjoy them!”
He would enjoy anything made by his future granddaughter-in-law!
Tong Xuelu handed her stuff over to Uncle Zong before she had a chance to check out the place.
Oh man, the Wen’s were surely somebody.
An detached unit at this day and age, albeit only two stories, was an equivalent of a mansion in modern time.
There was even a small garden in the front with flowers and vegetables inside. IT was well maintained.
She potted a television on a chest as soon as she had walked inside.
She had, once again, confirmed that the Wen’s were very wealthy.
Old Mr. Wan and Uncle Zong were very welcoming. They told her to relax like she was home.
Tong Xuelu was prepared that they would ask about her family situation but Old Mr. Wan did not ask her anything of that sort at al.
After they had sat and chatting for a little while, Old Mr. Wan had Wen Rugui showed her around. He needed to go somewhere.
Wen Rugui and Uncle Zong knew instantly where he was going.
He was going to gloat to Old Mr. Jiang again. Poor Old Mr. Jiang.
After Old Mr. Wan had left with some snacks, Uncle Zong left as well.
This was Tong Xuelu’s first time visiting, he needed to prepare something special for lunch for her.
