With her rare time off, Tong Xuelu picked up her yoga that she hadn’t done in a long time again.
It had been so long that she felt her muscles and bones had stiffened.
The two buns Tong Mianmian and Xiao Jiu watched her from one side and their eyes were filled with curiosity.
Tong Mianmian cocked her head and asked, “What are you doing, Big Sister?”
Tong Xuelu, “Big Sister is working out. Working out is good for you health.”
Upon hearing that, Tong Mianmian kicked her shoes off, climbed into bed, and mimicked what her sister was doing.
Xiao Jiu, too, climbed into bed after her. He stuck his head down and his butt up, doing a downward dog post.
When Tong Xuelu saw him when she looked up, she almost busted out laughing.
He was by far the most dramatic dog that she had ever seen.
After a few poses, Wei Zhuzhu’s voice came from the outside.
“Mianmian, Xiao Jiu, your pretty Zhuzhu is here looking for you!”
Tong Xuelu finally couldn't help but laughed out loud.
Wei Zhuzhu strongly believed that if she was to brag about herself a 100 times a day, she would turn into a very beautiful woman!
She didn’t know for certain if she could become a pretty woman but she was not deterred from saying it out loud. Wei Zhuzhu was pretty confident in herself for a kid.
Tong Xuelu got up to get the door followed by a string of white radishes.
When the door opened, Wei Zhuzhu lifted up her round face and smiled. “Good morning, Big Sister Xuelu. You are so beautiful today!”
Tong Xuelu rubbed Wei Zhuzhu on her head. “Good morning, Zhuzhu. You are pretty as well!”
Wei Zhuzhu felt content. She then ran over to play with Tong Mianmian and Xiao Jiu.
Shen Wanrong couldn't help but smiled and shook her head when she looked at the back of her granddaughter. “She will be going to school next year. I worry that others will make fun of her if she still talks like that at school.”
Tong Xuelu, “You don’t need to worry. If anyone makes fun of Zhuzhu, that just means they don’t click. She doesn’t need to play with them.”
Shen Wanrong, “You are right. She didn’t need to click with just everyone. Oh right, I am going to go get some bok choy to preserve. Do you want to come with?”
Tong Xuelu quickly nodded. “I want to make some preserved eggs as well. Give me a minute. Let me go get some money and tickets.”
Unlike the market over at Province Yuanqing, the market here opened twice a day. One time in the morning and one time in the evening.
They will make it there just in time if they leave now.
When they arrived at the market, there was already a long line outside.
Tong Xuelu and Grandma Shen had to wait in line for half an hour before it was their turn.
Shen Wanrong bought 10 jin of level 2 vegetables. Level 2 vegetables cost 3 cent per jin. It cost her a total of 3 cents.
Tong Xuelu only bought 2 jin of level 1 vegetables. Level 1 vegetables cost one cent more per jin.
The two then went over to the CSMC for duck eggs and other items.
When they got back home, the children were playing with little sand pouches.
They were handmade by Shen Wanrong. They were made from 6 little pieces of fabric sewn into squares. All she needed to do was add suitable quantity of grains.
When they walked inside the yard, Tong Jiaming was leading Tong Mianmian and Xiao Jiu in dodging the sand pouches that were thrown at them by Tong Jiaxin. Mooncake, too, joined in the fun.
Tong Mianmian was petite and her legs short. Tong Jiaxin had no sense that he was her Big Brother. He aimed particularly at her.
The sand pouch flew across the hair and hit Tong Mianmian on her back.
Tong Jiaxin rejoiced. “I did it! I hit Mianmian!”
Tong Mianmian’s eyes welled up. Her lips pouted and she looked like she was about to start crying.
Tong Jiaming walked over to her and comforted her. “Don’t cry, Mianmian. Would you like second brother to help you throw?”
The little bun shook her head and the little braids on her head swung from side to side. “No, Big Sister said one needs to learn to be independent.”
