Chapter 63: The Proposal

As she was talking, Shangguan Zheng, along with Xie Zhuojun’s parents, followed soon after.
Everyone was shocked at the sight of Shangguan Rouxue’s knees. They all looked at Shangguan Ning, suspiciously.
Shangguan Ning was really hurt, yet she refused to show a touch of emotion on her face.
As was often the case – no one had seen Shangguan Rouxue’s excellent performance. They had all automatically labelled Shangguan Ning as the “criminal”.
It was obvious that Shangguan Rouxue had put on many such performances, on numerous prior occasions. These people were now conditioned into believing her nonsense.
Wang Lu, namely Xie Zhuojun’s mother, instantly spotted a clear palmprint on her son’s cheek. She couldn’t help but shout, “Who slapped you, Zhuojun?”
Xie Zhuojun was silent, but everyone instantly turned their eyes from Xie Zhuojun’s cheek to Shangguan Ning’s face, once more.
There was no doubt that she had done it. Shangguan Rouxue would never slap him, because she was deeply in love with him.
Wang Lu’s heart ached. She was about to say something when her son shook his head, indicating that she should not say anything.
She wanted to scold Shangguan Ning, but she gave up seeing that Shangguan Zheng was standing right beside her .
Shangguan Zheng was livid, seeing his younger daughter’s state of distress. To add to that, his wife’s tears.
“What happened? How did your sister get hurt? She was fine a minute ago!”
Shangguan Ning replied in a cold and indifferent tone, “You must have been mistaken, Deputy-Mayor Shangguan. My mother’s name is Huang Liyu. She has only one daughter, namely me. I don’t have any younger sister!”
As she said this, the tension in the air became palpable. No one uttered a word.
Shangguan Zheng’s face changed, after his daughter touched a raw nerve. That too, in the presence of Family Xie.
Shangguan Rouxue tried to rescue Shangguan Ning from the siege. “Daddy, it has nothing to do with Sister. I ran so fast that I tripped…”
Xie Zhuojun interrupted her unhappily, “Don’t cover for her, Xue! I saw it with my own eyes! It was she who pushed you off. Things will worsen in the future, if you keep speaking in her defence!”
Yang Wenshu cried even louder, hearing these words.
Shangguan Zheng’s expression got even colder.
Even Parents Xie showed their displeasure and looked at Shangguan Ning with disgust. Shangguan Rouxue was already their daughter-in-law in their hearts, and they were very unhappy to see her being bullied by Shangguan Ning.
Shangguan Ning was surrounded by six people, each of whom wore an expression of displeasure and anger. No one intended to ask Shangguan Ning what on earth had happened.
Shangguan Ning stared at them coldly. She was no match for the six people in front of her.
That was what Jing Yichen saw when he returned.
He didn’t hear or see what happened before. But he had heard what Shangguan Rouxue and Xie Zhuojun had said.
He stepped forward and put himself protectively in front of Shangguan Ning.
He said “Six people bullying a girl? That really throws light on the chain of events!”
Seeing Jing Yichen holding Shangguan Ning’s arm, Xie Zhuojun asked instantly, “Who are you?”
Jing Yichen didn’t even look at him and said just two words to him- “Get away!”
His aristocratic air, his noble charisma, and his powerful persona made Xie Zhuojun choke on words.
No one had a doubt that Jing Yichen was a man of his word. He really did seem like someone powerful and capable.
Shangguan Rouxue was instantly reminded of the handsome silhouette that she saw at the gate of the supermarket, a few days ago.
She was almost certain that he was the same person.
Except for one thing. She remembered clearly that the man she saw at the supermarket drove a luxurious sports car. The Aston Martin. It was worth tens of millions of yuan and that too a limited version. There were only two such cars available in the entire world.
“I will let you off, today. If you dare to bully her one more time, you will definitely not be capable of handling the consequences!” Jing Yichen said in a tone full of fury.
He would not have let go of the matter even today,had it not been for the presence of Shangguan Ning’s family members.
But if it happened one more time, he would not be able to hold his composure, whoever it may be!
Xie Zhuojun’s father Xie Dongfeng used to be with the military. He could clearly feel the sense of foreboding in Jing Yichen’s tone. Judging from the vibe that Jing Yichen gave out, he was also able to tell that many people had lost their lives at his hands.
Jing Yichen was not just threatening them with empty words.

Before they left, Shangguan Zheng looked at Jing Yichen with displeasure.
Jing Yichen didn’t turn around to sweep Shangguan Ning into his arms, until the group left.
“Remember to call me if someone else bullies you next time.”
Shangguan Ning couldn’t help but hug Jing Yichen back, as she thought of him standing up for her. He was so strong. A stream of warm feelings gushed into her broken, cold heart.
Jing Yichen planted a soft kiss on her forehead before putting her down. Then he covered Shangguan Ning’s body with a huge towel and nodded in satisfaction.
Only now did Shangguan Ning understand the reason for his weird behaviour when they got the beach, He thought that her being scantily dressed, attracted unwanted male attention. She didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry at this.
Jing Yichen planted a kiss on her plump, red lips. He then got down on one knee right there at the beach, and pulled out a shiny diamond ring.
He then asked her gently, “Ning, will you marry me?”
Shangguan Ning was so pleasantly surprised that she covered her mouth in shock and stared at him in disbelief.
How come he was asking her to marry him? They had been married for over a month.
He was making a mistake.
Shangguan Ning’s heartbeat came down to normal and she took over the ring, and said happily, “I will!”
As if on cue, fireworks broke out, at the sea’s horizon.The couple looked so splendid, against the afterglow.
Jing Yichen stood up, put the ring on Shangguan Ning’s slender ring finger,and said , “We got married in a hurry, so I was thinking about redoing my proposal to you. I apologise for the delay, but it was because of the ring. It was to arrive from a foreign shore and didn’t get here until only a little while ago.”
Shangguan Ning choked with happiness and sobbed with joy. She couldn’t get over sight of the fireworks, forming the word ‘ Love’, up in the sky, not to forget, the beautiful, luxurious diamond ring on her finger.
She had never expected that a man as cold as Jing Yichen, could be so romantic sometimes.
She sniffed her nose hearing his proposal and said, “Well, I have married you after all. Proposal or not, I am yours.”
