Tang Yun expressed fake surprise as she pursed her lips. “Ah, could it have been Brother Yichen who punched you? He must have been instigated by some foxy lady to do so. When he comes here, I will tell him to stay away from that foxy lady and not to punch his own brother any more. After all, two brothers ought to stay in perfect harmony.”
Smile played on Jing Yiran’s pale face. He said calmly, “Then I should thank you very much. My brother listens to you!”
Seeing her grandson getting on well with Tang Yun, Mo Lan got slightly annoyed.
“Ran, get back to the bed and no wandering around! Butler, get someone to take Second Master back to bed and get this woman out of my sight.”
The Butler had just answered “yes” when Jing Yiran interrupted her.
“Grandma, that is not how we at Family Jing treat guests. She came all the way from the USA just to meet my brother. Won’t it be cruel of us not to allow their meeting?”
Although Mo Lan cared much about her grandson, yet she was not dumb. Hearing what he said, she frowned. “How did you know that she came from the USA? Even I didn’t know about that!”
“Oh, grandma, you think so little of me. My inner organs might be injured, but my brain functions perfectly!” Jing Yiran removed Mo Lan’s hands from him, walked slowly to the sofa and then sat down carefully. The pain in his chest ached terribly and cold sweat covered him. He couldn’t stand on his feet any more, but needed to tolerate the pain in case Mo Lan noticed it.
“I not only understand that Miss Tang travelled all the way from the USA, I am also aware that she is deeply devoted to my brother. Now she even has his child in the belly. That’s what real love is about. Shangguan Ning is not pregnant but Miss Tang is pregnant, so apparently, my brother adores Miss Tang more. Please don’t separate them and approve their relationship so that you may look like an affable senior!”
Mo Lan found what he said, increasingly weird. Jing Yiran had been lying in the sickbed during these past few days and had not stepped out of the villa. Tang Yun hadn’t arrived until this evening. How could Jing Yiran know so much about her?
“Ran, how did you know about that?” Mo Lan sounded serious. Jing Yiran had been brought up under her personal care. She didn’t expect that this grandson of hers would have done anything that disappointed her.
Jing Yiran panted, suppressing the blood that threatened to spill out of his chest.
He refused to answer Mo Lan’s question. Instead, he spoke through clenched teeth, “Grandma, isn’t that true that you like children a lot? Why are you driving out your great-grandson without hesitation this time whilst you tried to keep the pregnant woman who came to the door last time? My brother’s child can’t be kept, but mine can? Are you favoring me or my brother?”
Mo Lan was startled by what he asked. She snapped, “You are different from your brother.”
Jing Yiran cut in. “Why different? Just because he is the heir of the family? Just because he was born noble and I am a bastard?”
Mo Lan’s face changed and she said angrily, “Shut your nonsense! You are not a bastard, you are the Second Master of Family Jing. You are different from your brother, because he is married but you are not. He is a man with family and I wouldn’t allow a woman with unclear background to ruin the stable life he has tried so hard to get. What is more, when that woman came to the door, it was your mother who appointed her as the daughter-in-law and asked her to keep the child. You know very well why she wanted to have a grandchild so fast.”
That was true. It had been Zhang Rong who wanted to keep the child, because as long as Jing Yiran had a child, Family Jing would give him multiple properties. She wanted to get the inheritance that belonged to Jing Yichen through a child.
“I didn’t object to it for your sake. If you have a child, I will also turn to your father to ask for more inheritance. And you dare to interrogate me? Ran, I have fed you for 30 years and this is how you repay me?”
Mo Lan got so angry that she trembled. She was deeply upset.
She had been caring for Jing Yiran for so long and had planned to get whatever she could from Jing Yichen for him. But now, he was complaining to her for what she was doing. Did she breed an ungrateful person?
Seeing Mo Lan angry, Jing Yiran understood that he had gone overboard. He smiled and said, “Grandma, you have misunderstood me. I am not interrogating you, because I feel that you always favor me. Don’t get angry. If I have said something wrong, punish me as you wish.”
Jing Yiran had been good at sucking up Mo Lan right from the time that he was able to talk. So he didn’t have any difficulty in coming up with such answers.
Mo Lan got slightly pacified but her heart still ached terribly.
She felt that she had made a huge mistake, one that could not be reversed.
Standing in the living room, she calmed down gradually and coldly said, “I am trying to get this woman thrown out, not because I suspect that she is pregnant. Even if she is, the child won’t be Chen’s. That’s not Chen’s child, because he is fully devoted to Ning and he will never fool around with other women.”
“Oh, so what grandma means is that I am a person who fools around. You can believe that the woman who came to the door had my child but you won’t believe that this child is my brother’s!”
Mo Lan frowned and then looked at this grandson whom she had brought up. She felt that he was not a simple person.
“If I had believed that, then I would not have spent so much effort to take the woman for a DNA test. As for whether or not you are the person who fools around, I don’t think that I need to explain anything there. You have been involved with too many women and many of them have come to the door for compensation. Chen has never got any woman like this, and this woman must have some other purpose. I may be old but I know everything. I was not a simple person when I was young!”
Jing Yiran suddenly laughed after hearing what she said. Smile hovered over his face and he looked sinister. “Haha, grandma, you are completely mistaken. This is definitely my brother’s child and my brother also has feelings towards Miss Tang. You can ask him if you don’t believe me.”
The moment he stopped talking, a cold emotionless voice came from the door.
“No need to ask. Anyone with eyes would know that I have no feelings for Miss Tang.”
