He was safe. Shangguan Ning got assured and fell asleep holding his waist and nestled in his arms.
Shangguan Ning woke up in Jing Yichen’s arms the following morning.
The moment she opened her eyes, she could see the perfect side profile of Jing Yichen in deep sleep. She could smell his unique scent, making her feel warm and secure.
Outside the villa of the village, the happy chirping sound of birds could be heard everywhere, making the sunny morning full of vigor.
Shangguan Ning went up and kissed the tempting lips in front of her.
But the moment she leaned in, Jing Yichen opened his eyes and looked at her, making Shangguan Ning flush.
She struck upon Jing Yichen’s chest and said in a hoarse voice, “You did that on purpose, didn’t you!”
Jing Yichen chuckled and kissed her before saying, “Yes, I did it on purpose. I just wanted to see if anyone was going to steal a kiss from me.”
Shangguan Ning snorted and threw a glance at him. “I am not stealing a kiss, I am giving a generous kiss. You are my husband, and I am totally allowed to kiss you.”
She barely talked in such a proud way and right now sounded just like Jing Yichen.
The smiles on their faces were also identical.
“Alright then, get up now. Let’s get back to the city today, we have loads of work to do at the company!” Shangguan Ning pinched his arm and tried to drag him out of the bed.
But Jing Yichen remained on the bed. With fingers intertwined with hers, he said softly, “There are always loads of things to do at the company. I have hired those people so that they can be useful at this point. We are on a holiday and you can have as much fun as you wish. Leave everything aside until you are fully satisfied.”
Shangguan Ning thought for quite a while before deciding to stay for two more days here. She liked this place that only belonged to her and Jing Yichen.
They got up, changed, ate breakfast and then went out.
Seeing her newest outfit, Jing Yichen laughed all the way.
Ning had changed into a set of cotton cloth which belonged to Aunt Fu. She had just bought the clothes yesterday and Shangguan Ning took them to wear. Jing Yichen had given her some more money to buy a new set.
Aunt Fu was as tall as Shangguan Ning, but she was a few sizes bigger than Shangguan Ning. Dressed in baggy clothes with white and red floral patterns, Shangguan Ning did look like a Ms. Famer with the veil on the head, basket in arms.
“No laughing!” Shangguan Ning pinched Jing Yichen furiously and threatened. “One more smile and I will get you dressed in this way too.”
She had been feeling very happy after getting dressed in these clothes as a farmer lady. With a basket in her arms, she was fully prepared to dig sweet potatoes with Jing Yichen from the ground. But Jing Yichen kept teasing her, making her feel conscious.
Jing Yichen restrained his laughter. “Alright, alright, no more laughing! Your being farmer is enough, don’t make me one too, or I will not even step outside. Let’s go and dig the sweet potatoes. The lunch depends on you!”
“Of course!” Shangguan Ning responded happily and ran to the sweet potato field confidently.
But she had no idea how to use the shovel, as a result several sweet potatoes had been cut into halves by her while digging them out and the leaves were left everywhere.
Jing Yichen took the small shovel from Shangguan Ning and shook his head helplessly. “Just take a break, wife. We will starve if you continue in this way. Let me do that instead. You just wait aside for food.”
