Zhao Zhao wanted to give the best things in the world to her daughter. She didn’t put the treasured blue diamond necklace which Family Zhao had manufactured last year, on auction. Instead, she left it to Zhao Anan. Hence, it wasn’t a big deal to have a house that was so luxuriously decorated for her to live in.
Shangguan Ning couldn’t help but burst into laughter seeing Zhao Anan’s disdainful face. Zhao Anan had just told her that the wallpaper in her house had been made by melting gold bars.
“If the wallpaper at your home is really decorated with golden bars, then I can knock you off and then rip the wallpaper and everything else off the wall!”
Zhao Anan burst into laughter as well. She handed over the luggage to the servants and then showed Shangguan Ning around. It was the first time she had brought someone home and wanted to show off a bit. After all, her mother had spent so much effort in turning the place into a luxurious palace!
“Anan, are those fist sized pearls on the wall, the legendary luminous pearls?”
“Well, they are just luminous pearls, why legendary? Pluck them off if you like it. Those were something your husband left behind and I brought them home. I hope that he wouldn’t dislike them when you take them with you … also, Mu Qing once said that luminous pearls tend to cause infertility, are you sure you still want them?”
“Wow! Anan, the door bars are really made of gold! Do you think that I should knock you off and take them all home?”
“Have you used pearls to make up the drapery? Don’t people use them as a necklace? Even if your family deals in pearls, you don’t have to be so… blatant about it!”

Hearing what Shangguan Ning said, Zhao Anan felt that her vain heart was completely satisfied. Her mother had spent so much in making the house magnificent and now there was a person apart from the servants who admired the decorations.
“Honestly, my dearest Sister, can you just not admire me? Your husband is much richer than I am! I heard that he gives away diamonds by kilos. I bet that your home is filled with diamonds and that you have no place to sleep anywhere. Also, he leaves the car worth tens of millions down in the garage to rust. Family Jing even bought a mountain to build their villas. Can anyone be richer than your family? Are you just trying to cheer me by speaking so highly of my home?”
Shangguan Ning was not yet used to being addressed as “Sister” by Zhao Anan, but she found it endearing. It felt as if they were much closer than before.
She held Zhao Anan’s arms and said sheepishly, “I am just so surprised to see those jewelry and pearls at your home. Family Jing is rich as well, but they don’t seem to spend money in the same way as your family does.”
Family Jing preferred keeping a low-profile.
Maybe Zhao Anan was the only family in the entire A City that showed off in such a way! No one else would do that, because it was just too much of a temptation for thieves!
The two girls kept talking for the entire afternoon all the way until the evening. They hadn’t seen each other for so long and had much to discuss.
Finally, Shangguan Ning made a call to Jing Yichen.
“What? My dear wife, are you not coming home tonight? Are you staying overnight at Zhao Anan’s place with her?”
Jing Yichen jumped out of the sofa and looked instantly displeased.
Goddamned Zhao Anan. She just took away his wife the moment she returned from Germany. She had spent the entire day and now she wanted her to sleep with her as well? Intolerable!
What was his position as a husband?
“No way, you must come home now. You are only allowed to sleep with me. I don’t want anyone to touch you or take you in their arms. Does Zhao Anan want to die so soon? If she dares to touch you, I will send her back to Germany tomorrow!”
Shangguan Ning said helplessly, “Anan is a girl! What is wrong with us sleeping together? She is your sister, not someone from outside the family. Can’t you behave normally?”
“That is my most normal reaction as a husband when my wife decides to sleep with someone else. No girls, no cousins! You mustn’t sleep with her, come home now!”
Zhao Anan, who was sitting next to Shangguan Ning, heard everything that Jing Yichen said.
She couldn’t help but sigh as she shook her head. “My cousin who was so smart, intelligent, good-looking and intimidating… has become a total slave of his wife. The cold God of Men has now become a husband who spoils his wife to such a degree. I dare not look at this dazzling picture.”
Shangguan Ning didn’t hear what Zhao Anan said. She was still trying to explain to Jing Yichen.
“We are good friends! We shop, eat and sleep together. That is what girls do. It is totally normal. You are overreacting. Anyway, I will sleep with Anan tonight and you rest at home. Don’t stay up reading files till late. Good night!”
Before Jing Yichen was able to say anything more, he realized that his wife had hung up the phone.
It was a terrible feeling. He felt that his position in her heart was wobbling. Zhao Anan had robbed him of Shangguan Ning so easily and Shangguan Ning seemed to have deserted him so easily as well.
He didn’t want to be placed second.
Shangguan Ning and Zhao Anan had just changed into pajamas and were walking towards the bathroom when an anxious sound of knocking came from outside.
They exchanged a dubious look, and Zhao Anan took Shangguan Ning’s hands to walk to the door cautiously. They were about to turn on the viewable telephone on the wall when the thief-proof door, which had cost more than tens of thousands of yuan to install, was opened from outside within a second.
Shangguan Ning and Zhao Anan both got startled. They turned pale, fearing a burglary. After all, Zhao Anan’s home was indeed an attraction for thieves.
They were just about to call the police when a courteous voice came from outside. “Master, the door has been opened. Go in please!”
It was Tiger!
Tiger retreated and then a displeased looking Jing Yichen walked in. Behind him was another handsome man.
Shangguan Ning and Zhao Anan shouted out in surprise at the same time.
“Yichen?!”
“Mu Qing?!”
Seeing them, Zhao Anan let out a sigh of relief but said grumpily, “I haven’t told anyone about my new home address, how did you get here? I almost called the police because I thought you were thieves. Please don’t pry in like robbers next time, okay? It was too scary.”
