Chapter 513: Liar

After Mo Lan was knocked out by Lu, she stayed at the hospital for a week.
Actually, she recovered the following day, but in order to keep her away from all the mess, Jing Tianyuan forced her to stay for one more week at the hospital. Old people like them would always end up having problems even if they recovered.
What was more, Mo Lan had spent too much energy upon Jing Yiran earlier and was extremely tired. Her physical examination showed that several of her physical functions were affected adversely.
No one told her about Jing Yiran’s death. She did not even know about Shangguan Ning’s childbirth until after she was discharged from hospital.
When she was hospitalized, Jing Yichen did not visit her even once. Jing Zhongxiu visited her once, but the mother and son had such a cold relationship now that Jing Zhongxiu left after telling her to rest well.
Jing Tianyuan kept his wife company for a couple of days, but they kept quarreling all the time. Mo Lan wanted Jing Yiran to return to the family whilst Jing Tianyuan turned down the proposal, flatly.
It was not until Jing Tianyuan told Mo Lan about Jing Yiran threatening Jing Yichen to hand out the shares and rights of inheritance by kidnapping Shangguan Ning, did Mo Lan stop babbling.
Mo Lan believed that children were the most important beings. She wanted Family Jing to be full of lovely children and their siblings.
So when she was told that Jing Yiran pushed Shangguan Ning off the bridge resulting in premature birth of the baby, she did feel that Jing Yiran should be held responsible.
After she was discharged from the hospital, she decided to lecture her grandson but she found out that he was gone.
She felt fear surging into her body. She was worried that Jing Yiran had been beaten to death by Jing Yichen. Jing Yiran made such a huge mistake this time, and it was very likely that Jing Yichen would have killed him.
But Mo Lan did not go to Jing Yichen. Instead, she went to confront Jing Tianyuan who was staying at Mu Wensheng’s home.
“Old man, where is my grandson? Did you kill him?!”
Mo Lan felt that Jing Yiran would not have run away without leaving a trace. He never feared anyone even if he had been in dispute with someone, unless he was… already dead!
Jing Yiran didn’t visit her even once during her time in the hospital and that was also very unusual. Jing Yiran would always visit her and take care of her even at the slightest discomfort.
Mo Lan could not remember how she had passed out. All she remembered was bringing many things to Jing Yiran’s and then fainting at his house. When she woke up, she was already in the hospital. From that day on, Mo Lan had not seen Jing Yiran.
She had a hunch that something bad had happened. It was such a strong hunch that she did not even want to visit her great-grandson but went to Jing Tianyuan to demand an answer. Had Jing Yiran really been killed by the men of the family?
Jing Tianyuan did not tell her that Jing Yichen had put a bullet into his head. He was very irritated and bellowed even louder than Mo Lan. “Old woman, your grandson almost killed my great-grandson! It is already nice of me not to cause him trouble. Watch your tone in front of me!”
“He did make a mistake in that matter, and he should be beaten or lectured, but he should not die. He has no mother and his father has thrown him out of the house. Who else would care about him if I do not show any concern?”
Seeing Jing Tianyuan’s strong reaction, Mo Lan suddenly felt that what she had believed might not be true. Maybe Jing Yiran did run away. But that was not what he would normally do.
Jing Tianyuan had been married to Mo Lan for decades, and knew her temper well. Judging from her tone, he understood that her belief had been shaken. So he bellowed furiously, “Your grandson is completely ungrateful. We have never owed him anything or taken anything away from him. But he robbed Yichen of his shares, aimed at Ning with a gun, forcing Yichen to write the declaration that he will never be able to inherit anything from the Jing Family. Do you still think that he is human? You better keep him well hidden, or I will flay him alive when I see him.”
He made Mo Lan take the blame for Jing Yiran’s absence.
Sure enough, Mo Lan was hooked. She thought that Jing Yiran hid himself because he did not want to be found by Jing Tianyuan or Jing Zhongxiu.
After quarreling with Jing Tianyuan, she left.
Mu Wensheng had been watching the show this entire time. After Mo Lan took off, he started to laugh loudly, “Jing Tianyuan, you are a very good liar! Your wife was fooled. I have to watch out for you in the future in case you sell me out somehow. No one from your family is reliable!”
Jing Tianyuan, however, did not find that funny. He was very furious!
In his opinion, Jing Yiran deserved to die for what he had done, otherwise Family Jing would be ruined in his hands.
If Mo Lan got to know that Jing Yichen had killed Jing Yichen, she would have made a fuss and could even faint because of anger. That was why he had to make up a lie.
After spending so many years with Mo Lan, Jing Tianyuan understood that even if she was like this, they were, after all, a couple and he must not allow Mo Lan to suffer anymore due to that bastard.
Mo Lan reached Landscape Compound with the servants after she left Mu Wensheng’s.
After she was convinced that Jing Yiran ran away on his own, she felt relieved. So she went to visit Jing Rui.
After Mo Lan arrived, Jing Yichen treated her coldly and stayed silent in front of her.
Shangguan Ning, however, greeted her with a smile. Mo Lan was, after all, the great-grandma, and she could tell that she loved Jing Rui a great deal and even brought many toys and food for him.
Those small clothes and shoes were all exquisite and precious, so Mo Lan must have been preparing for this day for a very long time.
Mo Lan held her great-grandson in her arms and felt a bit guilty. She wanted to apologize to Shangguan Ning for Jing Yiran’s misbehavior, but she was also worried that mentioning Jing Yiran would make the atmosphere awkward. So she didn’t bring up the topic, eventually.
Shangguan Ning did not mention anything about Jing Yiran, either. Since he was dead, and all was in the past, she was not going to make it awkward with grandma.
Jing Yichen, however, did not show a happy face to Mo Lan. He behaved as if he were looking at a stranger. That made Mo Lan feel extremely uncomfortable.
