He opened the bedroom door and saw Shangguan Ning huddled on the bed. She was frowning in her sleep.
Jing Yichen took off his overcoat and made his way inside the blanket. Then he took her into his arms, gently.
Shangguan Ning was not in a deep sleep, so she woke up as soon as he touched her.
She opened her drowsy eyes and caught sight of him. She snuggled into his arms and found a comfortable spot. Then she mumbled in a lazy voice, “Where did you go so late at night? I couldn’t sleep well while you weren’t with me…”
Jing Yichen kissed her forehead and offered an arm to her as the pillow. Then he took hold of her slender waist and said gently, “I went out to complete an errand. I will always be by your side and sleep with you.”
Shangguan Ning mumbled again, “I like it when you let me to sleep in your arms. It feels safe…”
Jing Yichen’s eyes were filled with tears because of what she said. He replied “You will always be safe with me beside you for the rest of your life…”
Shangguan Ning smiled upon hearing his words. Then she went back to sleeping.

Jing Yichen chuckled. He opened his eyes and patted her messy hair. Speaking in an indulgent tone, he said, “Okay, okay, Queen, I am your most royal ride. Now you can come and ride me.”
Shangguan Ning got embarrassed. She pinched hard on his waist and spoke in an unfriendly manner after hearing his exaggerated cry of pain, “Nonsense! So early in the morning. You will get no breakfast.”
