Lu stood transfixed. After a moment, she shut the door behind her and turned around slowly.
She looked at Jing Yiran who looked pale yet charming.
“You finally remember what my real name is.”
“The faces are different, but the way you are dressed today is the same as the way you were dressed that day at Family Jing. I did get hit on my forehead, but I am not stupid. I can hardly ignore your look and air, Angel.”
“So the charming look I saw last time was fake. No wonder no one was able to catch you. Who would ever expect that a little girl with an innocent face and a baby-voice hopping around with a lollipop would be the most wanted woman killer in the entire world? I knew that I had seen you somewhere before, but I couldn’t remember it. That is because the face I saw on that occasion was a fake one.”
Jing Yiran looked like he was smiling, but he was not.
“The second best killer in the world, the only woman in the list of top 10 killers and the most beautiful killer in the world. Oh my Lu, why do you have so many titles? I am startled! I have just woken up from a coma and you gave me such a big surprise. I may pass out because of this shock.”
Jing Yiran was indeed shocked.
He had never expected that an angel-like woman would turn out to be the most lethal killer, Angel!
In the field of killers, each killer had his own nickname. The top one was said to be a man in his thirties, one whose nickname was “the God of Death”.
And the second one was nicknamed “Angel.”
There was some information available about these killers on the web. The famous ones even had photos and basic information. However, most of those pictures were false.
A top hitman who was hidden in the darkness would never expose his real look.
The more skilled a killer was, the more ordinary he might look in real life.
Lu, for example, remained well hidden because of her split personality. She did not even need any disguise.
The last time Jing Yiran saw Angel, he was at the Jing Family, and she had been summoned by Jing Zhongxiu.
Apparently, Jing Zhongxiu had been aware of who Lu really was, ages ago.
Maybe, even Jing Yichen was aware of who Lu was. He had been the only person who did not know about her.
That distressed Jing Yiran. If she hadn’t dressed in these clothes today, he may still not have recognized her.
Jing Zhongxiu never told him any confidential information about Family Jing, and he knew nothing just like an idiot!
Lu looked at Jing Yiran with her seemingly innocent and displayed a lethal smile that was not supposed to appear on a lovely face like that. “So? Are you scared? I told you that you would surely be obedient if you knew who I was.”
“Scared? I have been dead once and I have nothing to fear anymore.” Jing Yiran came back to himself, stretched out one finger and massaged his stinging forehead. He sneered sinisterly. “Also, you wanted me to live. You spared no efforts to save me. Hehe, my baby, you did not want me to die, did you?”
“You were just lucky to have survived the bullet. An occurrence like this has really low probability. I have nothing to do with it.” Lu sounded crisp yet calm. She was not claiming any credit.
But Jing Yiran did not believe what Lu said.
Had it not been for Lu, he would not have survived. Had it not been because of the medical treatment which she arranged for him, he would have lost his life before his brain could recover.
He patted the bed and smiled softly, “Come here, let me take a closer look at you!”
Lu did not move. She said, “The bullet in your head has not been taken out yet. So you better not move. If the bullet touches any nerve, you will be in living hell.”
Jing Yiran stiffened. He felt his forehead and spoke with a frown, “The bullet is not out? So, I have a ticking bomb in my head?”
“Yes.” Lu felt better when she saw him losing the air of arrogance. She even sounded gentle.
“Ticking bomb might not be the right word, but before it is removed, you are surely in danger. You better not make too many fast moves. When your brain stabilises, we need to find a professional doctor to open your head to take the bullet out. Now is not the time, and we do not have the money for that, either.”
“Money?”
Jing Yiran got startled. He had never been worried about money since he was young.
But he had many hidden properties and savings. If he could gain them back…
“Don’t ever think about your old stuff.” Lu seemed to have seen through him, so she told him sternly. “Jing Yiran is dead, now you have a new identity.”
She tossed an ID card towards Jing Yiran.
On the ID card, it showed that his name was Stephen, an American.
Jing Yiran looked at the ID card that symbolized his whole new identity, failing to utter a word.
“You should not have survived when the bullet entered your head. Everyone thinks that you are already dead. So you better think of yourself in that way. This new identity can keep you safe for a while. As long as you do not ask for trouble, trouble will not come to you.”
“You are not allowed to touch any of your old properties and you can not spend one single penny from your previous wealth, otherwise the Jing Family would get to know immediately. I do not think that Jing Yichen would give up looking for you if he knows that you are not dead. You better make use of your life that you almost lost. One more bullet, and you may not recover.”
Seeing Jing Yiran frowning heavily and looking furious, Lu spoke in a soft voice, “Jing Yiran, I will only save you once. I took a great risk. Do not disappoint me any more, or I will never ever save you again or might not even be able to.”
