Afterwards, Lu checked herself in the mirror and then turned to look at him with wide eyes. She said, “Half an hour, and you have basically achieved nothing.”
Her hair was only one inch shorter and still came till her shoulder. She had thought that she would see a new version of her with short hair but the result turned out to be different!
He did not know how to cut hair!
Jing Yiran was so tired that his wrist had started hurting, and his client did not like what he had done. His lips twitched and he said morosely, “What do you mean? Your hair is much shorter, can’t you see the difference?”
“No, it is too long. Cut it more please.”
“No more! It is the right length, making you look like a lady.”
Lu did not care if she looked like a lady or not. Long hair would slow her down in crucial moments.
“My hair, my call. Long hair slows me down in fights and I am less powerful, then.”
It was the first time for Jing Yiran to hear that long hair would make someone less powerful in fighting!
He grabbed her waist in displeasure and said with a frown, “Don’t get into fights, then the length of hair won’t be an issue.”
Only now did Lu realize that she did not need to undertake killing assignments any more. Her life had already changed tremendously compared to the previous times.
But she was used to staying in a battle mode to be able to confront all kinds of problems which arose suddenly.
For example, if she had not been prepared the day before, she would have run into problems.

However, if her hair was too long, her speed would be affected adversely.
She thought for a while and said, “I don’t like it when my hair is too long. It is not very convenient for me, even when I wash it. Please cut it short.”
Jing Yiran could not persuade her, so he cut half of the remaining length. Now, when she made a ponytail, it would make her look like a teenager.
Seeing her reflection against the mirror, she was slightly satisfied.

Lu did not care about hairstyles. Being bald could expose her and attract attention, so she had not chosen that.
Jing Yiran had thought that cutting hair for Lu would make him feel proud, but the result was the opposite.
He was indeed not that skillful. Had it not been for Lu’s pretty face, any other girl would have resembled an old aunt with this kind of hairstyle.
Their daily life was upside down. Normally, they would sleep during the day and come out at night. So it was already very late at the moment and Jing Yiran was in good spirits.
But Lu needed rest.
She put her arms around Jing Yiran’s waist out of habit and buried her face into his arms. She mumbled into his chest. “I am sleepy…”
Her emotional dependence on him made her different from before, when she often left without even saying anything and fell asleep in the bedroom.
Although her intention was not to show her charming side, her baby-like voice made her sound really cute.
Startled, Jing Yiran picked her up and carried her to the bedroom to rest.
They had a height difference of about 30 cm, and Jing Yiran did not have any difficulty in carrying her.

Lu’s misty, large eyes were on him. She said, “Sleep with me.”

He laid down next to her, and gathered her into his arms.

If she slept alone, then the blanket would become cold and make her fidgety.

But Shangguan Ning could not fall asleep.
She was worried that something would happen to Jing Yichen, so she stayed on guard all through the night without closing her eyes. She felt his forehead every now and then. His fever had not gone down in the past many hours and kept rising.
Zheng Jing was in the ward next to theirs along with Tiger.
Tiger was seriously injured, as well. He was sleeping soundly. Mu Qing knew that he was much more than a bodyguard to Jing Yichen. So he had examined Tiger in person and helped him stitch up his wounds.
He had been busy the entire day through, and had been running about between two wards after the operation. Apart from Shangguan Ning, the other three patients had a fever. Jing Yichen was seriously wounded. Also, he had a different physical condition than that of Zheng Jing and Tiger.
After checking up Zheng Jing and Tiger, Mu Qing came to Jing Yichen’s ward to check him.
Shangguan Ning handed the thermometer to Mu Qing and said in a worried voice, “Doctor Mu, Yichen’s body temperature is rising. It is now 38.7 degrees. Can you give him one more shot to bring it down?”
His whole body was heated and he was lying in the bed without consciousness. Shangguan Ning was so worried that she almost cried.
Mu Qing looked at the thermometer and said with regret, “Sister-in-law, we can’t give him too many shots. Master Jing has got two already. If I give him any more, it would be fatal for him.”
Shangguan Ning held Jing Yichen’s hand in hers tightly and frowned. “What should we do? Do you have another way?”
