Shangguan Ning nodded with a smile. “Okay, I will drink it every single day. It’s a precious thing and I won’t waste it. The medicinal wine doesn’t taste like wine at all. It smells great and it is enjoyable to drink it every single day.”
Shangguan Ning suddenly thought of the strong scent she had inhaled when she was with Tang Yun and Shangguan Rouxue the day before.
She had thought that it was musk, but she had no reaction after smelling it for so long. How weird!
She had been pregnant for only one month and that was when the baby might be the most vulnerable. Musk caused miscarriage, but then why was she totally fine?
“Doctor Mu, does musk cause miscarriage?”
Mu Qing should have more knowledge about musk than she did. Shangguan Ning popped the question suddenly.
Mu Qing’s face changed and asked nervously, “Sister, why did you mention musk? Of course it causes miscarriage, especially in the first three months when the pregnancy is not yet stable!”
Jing Yichen next to her also frowned. “Why are you asking about this, Ning?”
“Tang Yun and Shangguan Rouxue seemed to carry musk with them yesterday. They kept me waiting for long and babbled a lot. I realized later that they were trying to cause a delay so that the musk could act on me.”
Shangguan Ning recounted the scene that happened the day before.
“But I had never smelled musk before. I found out that it was a peculiar scent and suspected it to be musk. But I stayed with them for more than half an hour and I am fine. Could it have been something else?”
Shangguan Ning’ words reminded Mu Qing of something.
When he had returned to the hospital yesterday, Lu was already at the hospital with those three people who were badly injured. Tang Yun and Shangguan Rouxue had bullets in them and were pushed into the emergency room immediately.
Tang Yun was emitting a strong scent when he entered the emergency room, one that couldn’t be covered even by disinfecting water.
He smiled and said, “I know what it is. What you thought smelled like musk, wasn’t musk, but ambergris. Those two spices smell quite similar to each other, but ambergris doesn’t cause miscarriage.”
Shanguan Ning let out a sigh of relief. Holding Jing Yichen’s hands into hers tightly, she smiled and said, “Good that it was not musk.”
Jing Yichen grasped Shangguan Ning’s hands with force. It was a tight grip because he was not calm any more.
So Tang Yun and Shangguan Rouxue were entertaining these kinds of ideas.
Apparently, their original purpose had been to make Shangguan Ning miscarry with musk, but the spice was changed for some reason.
The question was who changed the spice?
Shangguan Ning wondered the same thing.
Jing Yichen knew what Shangguan Ning was thinking, judging from her expression. He said softly, “It is fine, I will find it out.”
Someone was helping Shangguan Ning from Yang Muyan’s side. It was a good thing, no matter what.
The three of them were talking when Zhao Anan rushed in with sweat all over her. She grabbed the cup which was kept at Mu Qing’s table and drained it instantly.
“I am dreadfully thirsty, get me one more cup.”
Mu Qing stood up helplessly and then fetched water from the water machine which was only one step away from where Zhao Anan stood.
“My dear lady, I have indeed owed you much in the past. I even need to serve you water!”
Zhao Anan ignored him. She was very cheerful at the sight of Shangguan Ning and laughed, “Ning, want to see a blockbuster?”
Shangguan Ning was confused. “What blockbuster, a movie?”
Zhao Anan blinked and nodded heavily. “Yes, movie, a huge movie with Tang Yun and Shangguan Rouxue as the leading characters. I am the fabulous director called Zhao Anan, and the movie is titled… Big Massacre!”
“Ah? Are they in the hospital now?” Shangguan Ning was surprised for a second before understanding the situation. They must have been brought here by Lu upon Jing Yichen’s orders.
Jing Yichen didn’t want them to die so fast. So he asked Lu to get them to the hospital for treatment.
But it seemed that they would not have a peaceful time in the hospital, judging from Zhao Anan’s look.
Shangguan Ning didn’t hesitate for too long before standing up. “Let’s go and watch the movie!”
She had just walked out when a large, warm hand took hold of her hand.
Shangguan Ning turned around and he said, “Be careful! Don’t bother talking to them. Don’t get angry no matter what they say. They will be killed when they are of no value, I promise!”
Shangguan Ning smiled and nodded. “Okay. I am going to watch the show not to play in it. Don’t worry, I will be fine.”
She said as Jing Yichen released her hand and allowed her to leave with Zhao Anan.
Family Mu’s Hospital was a famous hospital in A City, so the environment for the wards was extremely nice. The safety facilities and the decoration inside the advanced wards were all state-off-the-art. Even the ordinary wards were like the rooms at a five-star hotel.
However, when Zhao Anan and Shangguan Ning entered the ward, it was discovered that the wards were spacious but there was not a single window there. There were only simple wooden beds. The room stank of mould and it seemed that the room had not been cleaned in a long time.
Zhao Anan said proudly, “How does it look? I have picked a wonderful site, haven’t I? I found the perfect room for the two actresses. This storage room is the only one which I thought was appropriate for them. Look how dedicated I am!”
No wonder there was no window in the room. It was an abandoned storage room.
But before the Tang Yun and Shangguan Rouxue moved in, Zhao Anan might have asked someone to clear things out.
Shangguan Ning chuckled. Zhao Anan was indeed a smart woman who had found a special “ward” for them to live in and to increase their sufferings.
But Shangguan Ning noticed a tiny silhouette sitting on the chair at the door.
“Lu, what are you doing here? Have you been here since yesterday?”
Lu looked at Shangguan Ning and nodded in silence.
