Chapter 997 Everyone Should Have a Home

Nicole knew the fragrance. She had smelt it on Melissa's body before.

But now Melissa should be controlled by Zayn. Why was there a same scent on Lillian?

Nicole got a good idea.

"Lillian, you smell good. Do you wear a new perfume? What's the brand? I'll get one."

Nicole asked with a faint smile.

There was a flash in Lillian's eyes. Then she smiled and said, "I'm not young. I don't wear any perfume.
You might be wrong."

"Really? Perhaps I get it wrong. I was injured and I have been staying in the hospital. Maybe that's why
I feel everything is fragrant."

Nicole still smiled, but there wasn't smile in her eyes.

Lillian looked at her in surprise, "Were you injured? What's going on? Is it serious?"

Nicole thought Lillian was really a hypocrite.

The news that Nicole was hurt by Melissa was almost on the top of the Twitter trending news. Even if
she didn't use Twitter at the age, she should have heard from Petty about it. Now that Petty had
already see the news, Lillian must have known it.

Nicole never thought that Lillian would betray her. But now, she found the betrayer in the family as soon
as she went home.

Nicole thought about it and smiled, "Not a big deal. I'm still standing here. I know someone wants me
dead. They seek every way to kill me. But I am lucky that I'm not dead."



As she spoke, she shrugged mischievously.

Lillian coughed and said, "Are you going out?"

"Yes. I am going to see my grandfather. No need to save a meal for me, Lillian. I'll have lunch with my
grandfather."

As soon as Nicole walked out of the house, she stopped smiling.

Then she called Ernesto.

"Check out what Lillian has done and whom has she met recently?"

"No problem."

Nicole and Samuel trusted in Ernesto. Without asking anything, he began to work at once.

Entering the garage, Nicole examined her car and found the tires muddy.

She always had her car cleaned before it was sent in the garage. Moreover, she had not been in the
Seapolis City recently. In other words, someone drove her car recently.

Then she called Ernesto again.

"I have got one more thing to tell you. Check whether I have received any parking or speeding tickets
for my car recently. And go to the traffic police station to check if my car has been driven to any
places."

"Yes, madam."

Hanging up the phone, Nicole got on a Land Rover of Samuel and drove it out.



As Samuel's license plate was conspicuous, it would be reported to the traffic police once she had any
accident.

Nicole did it for her safety.

She didn't expect that people around her would hurt her until she came back. Now someone in the
Green family wanted to kill her. It was really dangerous.

Nicole drove to the Edwin's.

Informed of that Nicole had come back, Edwin started to prepare food.

"Hurry up! Make some pastries. Desserts were Nicole's favorite. She had a miscarriage and now is
injured. I must prepare some food she likes when she comes home."

The Ian immediately went to the kitchen.

Edwin noticed the sofa at home. He felt it was not warm enough, so he pulled out a cushion from the
study and put it onto the sofa.

Nicole came inside and spotted this. She was moved by her grandfather.

"Edwin, what are you doing?"

"Nicole? Come sit down! Look, I put the cushion for you. It's soft and warm, so it won't hurt your waist."

Edwin said with a smile. At this moment, his eyes were filled with tears.

"Grandpa!"

Nicole rushed over and gave him a hug. She was so touched that her eyes were moistened.



"You are a mother. How could you act like a kid?"

"I don't care. I just want to hug my grandpa. I miss you so much."

Nicole wiped away the tears with her hands when she was holding Edwin.

She didn't want Edwin to see her tears. She wanted to please him.

"Well, I am almost out of breath. Just sit down. I have the food prepared. Will you have lunch here?"

"Alright, I want Sweet and Sour Fish."

Nicole acted like a spoiled kid.

Edwin burst into laughter.

"Alright, I'll tell the kitchen to cook it for you. I didn't know you are a foodie. Zoe is like you in eating!"

Hearing her daughter's name, Nicole couldn't help but miss her.

"Zoe was born foodie. It has nothing to do with me. Did she come here?"

"Sure. She came every day at first. But later, I went out for painting nature drawings. I haven't seen this
girl for days. I think Samuel is really considerate. Your mother is no longer here. I am lonely and bored.
So I am really happy that Samuel sent Zoe here every day. At the beginning, I felt hard to communicate
with the little girl. Zoe is a wilful kid. Sometimes she would break things in a fit of temper. And I also
taught her some self-defense techniques. But I don't know if she has practiced it without me. It's better
for girls to learn some self-defense techniques. "

When it came to Zoe, Edwin wouldn't stop talking.

Nicole was delighted to see her grandpa happy.



"Zoe must be taller, right?"

"Sure! She has already outgrown her old pants. I bought new ones for her. It's only two months before
the New Year. What's your plan?"

Hearing this, Nicole didn't know how to answer him.

She knew what Edwin meant. Edwin got on ages and it would be so lonely for him to celebrate the New
Year by himself. But technically, she was the member of the Don family.

Nicole thought for a while and answered, "I want to ask Uncle Mark and Uncle Jason if they would love
to come here to celebrate the New Year. But I am afraid that you wouldn't like too many people
gathered here."

"I would love it! All of you could come here in the New Year!"

"Alright!"

Nicole was so happy.

To be honest, Nicole felt at home only when she came here.

"Are you okay with your injuries? I could let Blaire's wife to see it."

Staring at Nicole's face, Edwin found that she was thinner.

Nicole shook her head and said, "No, thanks. I have seen the doctor. Gabrielle is pregnant now. It's not
convenient. Let her have a rest."

"You always care about others. You should think more about yourself from now on."

Edwin sighed.



Nicole made him thought of his past wife.

Although his wife had cheated on her and left a bastard who almost hurt Nicole, Edwin kind of missed
her, probably because he was aged.

He just thought of her good now. He kept thinking how sweet they were when they fell in love and got
married.

All these years had flashed by.

Edwin heaved a sigh.

"Grandpa, what's wrong?"

Nicole seldom saw Edwin like this, so she was worried.

Edwin shook his head and said, "Have you kept in touch with Tim?"

Nicole paused for a moment.

If Edwin didn't mention the name, she almost forgot Tim.

Nicole still remembered Tim, who flirted with all women when they first met. He really had impressed
her, but Nicole was too busy to think about him recently.

Actually, he was her cousin. Although they didn't share the same grandfather, they did share a
grandmother.

Nicole had no idea why Edwin would talk about him.

"Grandpa, what do you mean?"



Edwin wouldn't mess him up, would he?

Noticing Nicole turned serious, Edwin flicked Nicole's forehead.

"What are you thinking? Do you think I would take revenge on him?"

"No."

Nicole shook her head immediately. Yet Edwin could find that she was smiling.

"Take it seriously."

"Ok, I'm sorry!"

Nicole immediately saluted.

Only then did Edwin let it go.

"Tim is a poor kid. He must be alone somewhere now. I think everybody should have a home to make
his life is meaningful. No matter what happened between me and your grandma, she was my wife. Tim
is her grandson. To some degree, I see him as my grandson too. So, if you contact him later, tell him to
come over and celebrate the New Year with me. I'll be his grandfather if he wants. I loved your
grandma. I also hated her. But she has passed away now. At this age, I don't want to see her grandson
alone outside."

It tugged at Nicole's heart strings.

It reminded her of the last time Tim said goodbye to her.

He said, "Nicole, maybe it was the God that didn't want us together. I wish you could be happy."

Nicole didn't know why she wanted to cry. She even sort of missed him.



Tim was the first person that helped her when she returned from abroad. But now he was alone
somewhere, healing his wounds.

When she thought of this, Nicole felt miserable.

"Thank you, grandpa."

Nicole hugged Edwin and felt lucky to have the family. Thank god.

"Alright, we're done talking about the past. Shall we get down to the present?"

Nicole was confused.

"Grandpa, you're retired now. I think you have nothing to worry about. You should take care of yourself
and live happily."

"Don't be ridiculous. I'm talking about you. You come back for Samuel, right? Have you found out
anything after you came back?"

Edwin really understood her. Nicole knew it was hard to fool her grandpa.
