Though Jace already knew Sage couldn’t promise him a remarriage, it still hurts. Jace felt his pride get
hurt. His lips pursed into a thin line.

He let out a bitter smile and said, “I’m not an idiot. How could I force you to remarry me with this? I
can’t bulldoze you to such arrangements. I know.” At least Jace was smart enough.

Sage asked patiently, “So, what do you want me to promise you about?”

“I want you to trust me one more time,” said Jace as he looked her in the eyes willfully. “I did not meet
with a lady in my room. Suki West flirted with me at the bar and I thought she was you. I was pretty
drunk at that point. I apologized and told the bartender to bill it to Room 77, I guess she must’ve gotten
my room number from there.

Also, I told her to leave after telling her I’m not interested. You can also ask Yoel if you don’t trust me,
or check the surveillance cameras.”

Sage finally understood what he meant.

“This was the condition for letting Kane off the hook?” Sage asked.

Jace nodded earnestly and said, “I know you don’t trust me at all now. I’m not a nobleman, nor I am a
good man. But you can trust m e when I said I have never lied to you ever. Not then, not now, and not
in the future.”

Sage tried to avoid eye contact with him. She was all prepared to be tortured by his request, but she
never thought he only wanted a chance to explain what happened last night.





He was right. He was never once dishonest with her, including the time he told her he didn’t love her,
and there was another woman in his mind; including him staying together with Sienna while they were
married.

She thought maybe the reason why he never lied is that he never cared how she felt about his truth. Be
it sadness, heartbreak, or disappointment

Jace never understood, Sage only cared if he loved her. She didn’t want to lose it in front of him
anymore. Sage pursed her lips and said, “Do you know why she went to your room carrying a bottle of
liquor?”

women out there, that was a strong hint.” Sage felt helpless as she observed the frown on Jace’s face
looking all confused, “I’ll give you another example. If the paparazzi caught hold of Suki West at your
doorstep and you did answer it, do you think the outsiders would believe your explanation?”

Jace raised his brows and said, “I don’t care what the others thought about me.”

He only cared what she thought.

“I know you don’t care. But you’re not anybody. You are the director of Yuriel Group,” Sage sounded
extra calm, “And as your partner, I trust your character completely. But at the same time, I hope Mr.
Yuriel will be extra cautious in the future.”

She said she’ll trust him as a business partner, not as an ex-wife. Jace pursed his lips tightly and said,
“I have another condition,”
