Leah was stunned upon hearing all of that. She stared at Sage, wide-eyed. “So… Why haven’t you..?”
“Why haven’t I sent them to jail?”

Sage predicted what Leah was going to say. The corner of her mouth curved into a cold smile.” They
don’t deserve a quick death, torturing them before their eventual death should be the real agony, isn’t
it?”

Leah stared blankly at Sage. She felt chills shoot through from the bottom of her feet all right to her
heart, and down her spine.

“So… You’ve always known that your father wasn’t the Norahs’ biological son, and that Yeva and I…
aren’t your biological cousins?”

Sage looked up at Leah.

“Is that really all that matters to that so-called family? Being blood related?

“Braxton and Zane Norah were envious of my father and eventually killed him because they found out
they weren’t biological brothers. On the other hand, they’ve taken my father’s inheritance in the name
of being his brothers.”

Sage chuckled in disdain and continued, “They’re the prime example of ingrates, treating people as if
they’re just another stepping stone!” Leah dropped her dead down remorsefully, she felt deeply
ashamed of his father. “Sage, I’m so sorry…” Leah knelt in front of Sage, her eyes red and filled with
tears.

“Those were your father’s crime, not yours. There’s no need for you to apologize.” Sage pulled Leah up
and sat her down, gently rubbing her knees. She said to Leah in a softer tone, “I appreciate you telling



me all of these. It means that you’ve completely given up your father’s side and are being truthful to
me.” Tears fell from Leah’s eyes as she choked, “Sage, I shouldn’t have hid these from you. I knew I
should’ve told you the moment you came back, but I was afraid…”



“What were you afraid of? That I would detest you because of who your father was?”

Leah shook her head. “I know you wouldn’t do that. I was afraid that you might not want me anymore if
you found out that we’re not related.”

Tears rained down from Leah’s face. She held tightly onto Sage’s hands, refusing to not let go, as if a
homeless child had finally found their family.

“Sage, you were the only person who was genuinely kind to me over the years, even your parents. For
me, you’re the real family who took care of me. Now that I’m finally here with you, I’m begging you to
please don’t ever abandon me, okay?”

Leah never wanted to feel like she had nobody to turn to ever again.

Sage patted Leah’s head gently and lovingly. “Why would I ever abandon you? If I don’t treat you as
family, I wouldn’t have listened to Yeva and have you move in here with me.”

Leah chuckled lightly as she looked at Sage. “It’s been three years since we last saw each other, I was
afraid that you’ve changed.”

Sage sighed and said, “The human mind is so easily tempted, it’s too easy for someone to turn evil.
Leah, I won’t ask for anything from you, all I wish is for you to always have a pure heart.” Leah nodded
her head, seemingly understood partially. “I should apologize to you as well.” Sage uttered out of



nowhere. “I had someone search Braxton and Zane’s places, it was how I discovered your diary. Sorry
for violating your privacy without your permission.”

It was also through Leah’s diary that Sage realized that Leah was truthfully devastated by her death,
she was aware that the past few years had not been easy for Leah. Leah shook her head and said
shyly, “There’s nothing much to see in my diary. It’s just something I used to cope with when I’m down
in the dumps.”

Sage chuckled. “I know. You can come to me when you’re feeling down from now on, I’ll always be
here for you.”
