Laura told Sage, “It’s not hard to see that Jace still loves you. I don’t know if you still love him or not.
I’m no love guru, but if you’re still in love with each other, why don’t you give yourself another chance?”

Laura did not understand Sage. Laura had always been straightforward with her feelings. If she liked
somebody, she would go for it. If she no longer had any feelings for him, she would split up with him.

With death constantly looming around the horizon, Laura had no time to wait for happiness to come

Sage was not convinced. “It’s because you have yet to fall in love. Just wait until you fall in love with
another person. Then, you’ll understand that love isn’t binary. There are always some external factors
that you have to consider. Those who are able to be together are always the fortunate ones, but
unfortunately, not everybody can be so fortunate.”

Sage did not tell Laura how disappointed she was when she signed her name on the divorce papers.
She could not bring herself to tell her that the moment she put her signature down, her love for Jace
had already burned up. There was no way that Sage would allow herself to return to that position.

“Even if I still don’t understand you, I still understand that I should put myself in your shoes. It’s your
life, after all. You call the shots. Forget what I said,” replied Laura. Laura raised her glass towards
Sage.

Sage smiled and clinked her glass against Laura’s. “No problem.”

Peering from the outside, Kane was getting restless. “Are they still not done drinking?”



Just as Kane was about to get out of the car, Jace grabbed his wrist and stopped him. Kane stared
coldly at Jace and said, “Let go of me.”

His tone was still cold and indifferent. Despite being together for the whole day and spying in the car
together, Kane was still not friendly toward Jace. Kane still considered their cooperation to be
temporary. Even if their goals were the same-to split Laura and Sage up-the longer they were together,
the more uneasy Kane grew. If Laura could find so much comfort in confiding in Sage, what use was
Kane to Laura? The only reason Kane included Jace in his little sting operation was due to Jace’s
grasp on the city. He could easily locate Sage and Laura no matter where they decided to go.

Even if Kane kept telling himself that it was temporary, he could still feel the shame of being in the
same car as Jace. Kane could only tell himself that it was nothing compared to how Luther and Sage
had already aired out all his embarrassing secrets in the group chat.

decision, and Madam was worried for his safety. Madam told him if he joined the army, she would
disown him, and his life and death won’t matter to her,” Aunt Wendy told Sage.



Sage remembered the day Jace saved her in the woods. It was extremely dangerous since anyone
