There was a tea room on the floor below the hall. Lucas ordered a pot of tea to help them bounce back
after drinking. The waiter filled the cup with tea. The tea fragrance overflowed and helped clear their
mind.

“As you get older, you have to learn to take care of your body. It’s better to drink more tea and less
alcohol.”

Lucas’s voice was mellow and clear. His calin demeanor as he took a sip of tea showed the grace of an
elder. If it were not for those rough, calloused palms, no one would know that Lucas was originally from
the countryside.

It took him thirty years to change his image as a countryside man. The young generation would not
think of Lucas as the Yuriel family’s son-in-law. Instead, they recognized him as the famous and suave
Chief Spencer.

Jace was seated across Lucas. He sat for a long time without saying a word and remained
expressionless.

The father and son were sitting face to face. If one looked carefully, their lips were the strongest
similarity between them. Jace’s facial features did not resemble his father, especially his eyes and
eyebrows. He resembled his mother, Freya, more.

Freya and Jace both looked fierce, particularly when they stayed silent. They always exuded a sense of
oppression and intimidated others. That was the reason why Lucas did not meet up with his son very
often. Somehow, he could see the shadow of Freya in Jace’s eyes.

His throat moved slightly. He asked inadvertently, “Is your mother well?”



“She’s fine,” Jace finally spoke indifferently.



Lucas paused a little. Then, he asked, “About her leg…” Jace arched his eyebrows and cut him off right
away. “Why are you here? Cut to the chase.” “That temper of yours… You’re just like your mother.”
Lucas was not annoyed. Instead, he smiled nicely and looked at Jace gently. “You’re my son. Can’t we
just sit down and chat?”

Jace could feel nothing but restlessness in him. People always said that a daughter was closer to her
father, while the son was closer to his mother. However, Jace was really close with his father when he
was a child.

A gentle father was more amiable as compared with a strict mother. His father made small toys for him
and let him ride on his back like a horse. He even brought him out secretly to buy snacks and go to the
arcade to play games…

A tiger mom and a gentle dad were a true portrayal of his childhood family. The family of three lived
happily for a while, but things changed. When did it start to change? Did it start when his father’s
