That was not the first time Jaxon came unannounced. Nevertheless, he still felt nervous.

He knew that people in higher positions tend to have an unpredictable temperament, and it was
imperative to play in their favor.

Jaxon used to hate the industry for its ugliness and filth. There was a dark and ugly side to all the
beautiful and successful celebrities on screen. Eventually, Jaxon became one of them-the ones he
pledged to never be.

That was because he would rather have that short-lived fame rather than be an unappreciated
anonymous his whole life.

“Keep an open mind. There’s a price to pay if you want to be famous. It’s just business,” Mister Don
once told him while patting his cheeks.

Jaxon scrubbed every inch of his body to ensure he was clean, but his heart was polluted long ago.
What was the point?

He laughed at himself as he thought of a quote from a teen movie.

‘People will eventually turn into the person they hate the most.’

Jaxon was willing to give it all for a taste of success. He would even go down on his knees and bark
like a dog if that was what it took.

As he was being dramatic in the shower, he heard the sound of the door opening as he turned off the
tap. He saw a slim figure walking into the room through the bathroom glass.



She was back!

Jaxon’s heart was beating rapidly. He did not know what to do. He clenched his fist and prepared
himself for what was about to happen. Then, he thought to himself, ‘There’s nothing to worry about!

He just had to get over it. Jaxon wrapped a towel around his lower body and walked out.

As he walked out, Jaxon stood frozen. Sage was not impatiently waiting for him to make a move, nor
she was waiting to enjoy him. Instead, she sat on the couch with her laptop, and she did not take off
her clothes.

She sat there looking prim and proper.

Sage glanced at him and asked him to sit down as he came out of the bathroom.

Jaxon had seen many career women in his life, and many of them had professional careers.



However, most of them were two-face, They seemed elegant and professional, but they were crazier
and wilder than some strippers at the nightclub when no one was watching. Jaxon was ready for Sage
to devour him or even literally lick her boots, but Sage just ordered him to sit on the couch.

What was she thinking?

He was baffled. He did not sit, and Sage just let him be.

She hit the keyboard a few times and asked, “Did you major in sports?”

Jaxon was dumbfounded, and he realized she was reading through his file. “Yes, I’m specialized in
high jumping.”



“Hmm. You’re a second-tier nationalist, and you participated and won a few national awards. Not bad.”

Sage maintained a calm tone and asked, “Why didn’t you continue your sports career?”

Jaxon had been in the industry for too long, and he almost forgot that he was an athlete. He seldom
mentioned it unless the reality show host had nothing else to talk about him.

Jaxon would then use it as a gimmick and perform high-jumping along with the other celebrities, and
that was about it.

He replied Sage, “It was tough being an athlete, and I came from a poor family. My physique wasn’t
perfect for the national team, so I gave up on that. However, I had a chance to enter the entertainment
industry, so I thought I’d try it out.

That was the official answer he gave whenever people interviewed him about this past, and it was a lie.
As a D-lister, he was rarely interviewed, and he almost forgot the real reason he quit sports.

The internet remembered.

Sage was unfazed. “No. Although you’re from the suburbs, your dad has a factory, and your mom had
a few businesses. Moreover, you’re the only child. Could your family be that poor?

“As for the national team, it says here that your high jump coach Wallace Young invited you to join the
national team, but you chose to enter the entertainment business instead.”

Sage saw through his lies easily and recalled his memory. Jaxon smiled sheepishly, but he still could
not understand why she mentioned it. Was she only trying to have a chat with him?
