The way Emily rolled her eyes was eerily similar to how Sage rolled hers.

It was like looking at a younger clone of Sage.

Ross knew better than to get angry at her, he coldly replied, “Are the only function of your eyes to roll to
the back of your head?” Emily immediately regretted rolling her eyes. She glanced at Sage beside her
and said, “I learned from Sage.” Ross continued before Sage could get any remarks out, “Are you
comparing yourself to your aunt? Are you as beautiful as she is? As smart? Or do you think you have
bigger eyes than hers?”

Emily did not know what to say to that. “Your aunt had already been to countless international
meetings, carved countless jade, earned a fortune which you can’t start to comprehend, what can you
do, other than making me angry?” asked Ross. Sage was surprised by how highly her brother thinks of
her. Emily tried to shift the blame away from herself, “That’s because she has good parents. What do I
have? You, an unreliable dad! How can you expect anything from me when you aren’t that successful,
to begin with?”

Ross’s face turned cold, “What did you say?”

“I’m just telling the truth. All you care about now is marrying some kind of whore into the farnily. You
know that nobody likes her, but you still want her in the family. Have you thought about my feelings?”
said Emily.

Ross noticed how red Emily’s eyes were, and his anger slowly subsided.

“Isn’t it normal for me to look for companionship? You’re old enough to understand that my life can’t
revolve around yours,” replied Ross. “That’s not what I meant. I just think that you should at least have



some standards, for example, if you could find somebody like Sage, I’d support your new relationship,”
said Emily.

Sage did not understand how did the conversation always seems to be able to relate to her. “If I could
find somebody like Sage, do you think you would’ve been adopted?” asked Ross. “Who cares if you
adopted me or not? It’s not like I chose to be born into this world!’ exclaimed Emily.



“Are you insinuating that I should send you back to where you came from?” asked Ross.

Emily was about to retort when Sage stopped her with a glare.

Sage looked at both of them and said, “If you guys are going to keep this up, you’re more than
welcome to continue this back at Mostal, not in my house.”

Both of them finally calmed down. After taking a deep breath, Ross asked Emily, “Where’s your
boyfriend? Too ugly to bring home?”

“He’s better looking than you could ever hope to be,” replied Emily, defending Yoel from her father.

Ross was enraged by how Emily defended somebody that he never met yet. “Then, why isn’t he here
to meet me?” asked Ross. Emily could not possibly tell her father that it was because he rejected her.
That would render everything she said just now useless. Emily thought about it for a moment and after
careful deliberation, said, “That’s because he can’t make it now. You’ll get the chance to meet him in
the future!”

Ross knew that she was rejected the instance she started hesitating.



“You’re rejected,” said Ross. “Of course not!” exclaimed Emily, her eyes getting redder by the moment.
Emily turned and left while murmuring something about not going to talk to Ross anymore. Sage shook
her head when she saw Ross clearly did not care and was still seated firmly in his seat, enjoying his
tea. Zamora excused himself and Sage sat down in his seat. “Why do you talk to your daughter like
that? Do you derive pleasure from causing her mental anguish?” asked Sage.

“Isn’t the whole point of having kids is to have some fun?” asked Ross. Ross finally put down his cup of
tea and asked Sage, “Who’s this man, and how old is he? What’s his occupation? Where does he
reside? Do you know his family? How is his character?”

The sudden barrage of questions caught Sage off guard. “Do you think I’m some kind of detective?”
asked Sage. “That’s right, I should get a detective to look into him,” replied Ross.
