“Persisting in evil only brings about self-destruction. They should’ve seen this coming.” Freya had no
sympathy for Lucas and Luna. Her thoughts were the same as Primrose and Sage’s. She had no
intention of telling Lucas about Luna’s situation.

Freva said indifferently, “‘The child is Luna’s. It’s her decision to give birth or not. It’s none of my
business. As for Lucas, I’m not going to forgive him either.”

The group kept talking and chatted about everything. Primrose and Freya became good friends right
after they met. Meanwhile, Sawyer and Roy had not seen each other for a long time. As dusk
approached, the rain came along with the soft pitter-patter of rain against the window pane.

Sage moved a small bench and sat at the door. She enjoyed watching the raindrops fall in a line along
the eaves like a curtain of rain. It was a sight she had not seen in a long time.

Jace made a cup of tea for Sage. “Try this.”

Sage looked down at the color of the tea and frowned as she tasted it. “What tea is this?”

“Faye bought this online. She said it’s a kind of black tea that girls like.” Sage tasted again. “It tastes a
little strange.”

Jace asked, “I find it a little strange too. Does it smell too sweet?”

Sage was lost for words. It would have been okay if he did not say that, but it did smell like that after he
said it. Sage looked up at Jace with a glare. “Why did you let me try this then?” Jace took the cup of tea
from her hand and took a sip from where she had just drunk it.



“Faye is so sure that any girl will love it. I just wanted to see if men and women have completely
different tastes. This experiment has shown that our tastes are quite similar.”

He smiled at Sage.

“Come on. You’re just using me as a test subject and teasing me.” Sage did not believe his high -
sounding words. Jace smiled again and continued drinking his tea slowly. Sage looked at him. “Didn’t
you make it for me? Why are you drinking it yourself?” “I thought you didn’t like it. This is a strange tea,
but I found it delicious after you tasted it.” Sage was rendered speechless. Jace saw Sage glaring at
him and pursing his lips. “Um, shall I make you another cup?” “Forget it. It tastes weird,” Sage said.
Jace asked, “Are you calling yourself?” Sage roared, “No, you!”

“Okay, me.” Jace nodded and acknowledged it.

Sage fell silent and turned her head to enjoy the rainy scenery outside instead.

lace admired the rain with her and suddenly said, “I heard from Aunt Primrose that you grew up in the
countryside when you were a child. You lived in the same kind of courtyard residence like this.”

“Yeah.” Sage’s memory was good. She remembered things from her childhood. “I lived with my
grandfather at that time. When I was young, I thought the house was too big. It was very crowded too.
My parents weren’t that busy and played with me all day. When they were busy, my grandfather would
play with me. Grandpa carried me and let me watch him carve things. I didn’t enjoy just watching, so I
took the carving knife and carved it together with him.” “When I was young, my skin was very tender.
My fingers were always covered in blood and hurt. Mom scolded me while treating my wound, but she
never stopped me from learning the craft. She only urged Grandpa and Dad to watch over me and
make sure I didn’t accidentally cut off my fingers. It would be hard for me to get married if I was

palm and sighed at the thick calluses. Jace said, “Don’t worry. You can find someone with rougher
hands than you, like these.” He opened his palm and showed it to Sage.

Sage was lost for words. She looked at his hand, feeling slightly irritated. What was he doing? Were
they going to be a couple with rough hands?
