Chapter 96: I Want to Be with You

“It’s a producer from Ray-Trace Media, Leonard Keith.”

Magnus stood straight. He looked apprehensive while he was standing in front of Joseph’s desk.

“Recently, the short-term reality travel show launched by ST Hotel in cooperation with Ray-Trace Media
has just broadcasted a trailer. It is already in the hot search list of Weibo, especially the group of
Freddie and Stella. Fans love the interaction between male artists and children. Hence, Ray-Trace
Media wants to sign Stella as a child star and cultivate her.”

“Is that so?” Joseph just slightly knitted his brows, unable to differentiate whether he was happy or
angry about it.

“Yes, today Leonard came over to talk about the plan to launch a full program series based on this
current show. He discussed it with the investment department, and I guess he wanted to poach Ms.
Downey to their company because he saw her excellent working performance. After all, this show was
initially her idea.”

When Joseph heard these words, he clenched his signature pen and looked up from the contract
papers.

“She agreed to it?”

Joseph didn’t speak for a while, so Magnus reminded him cautiously, “Mr. Beckham, the meeting will

There were hotels under ST Group planning to do a chain of youth hostels to facilitate the product line
of the group’s tourism company. Hence, representatives from all ST Hotels in Nanking City were
gathered to a meeting to discuss the matter.

Hayden had also come for this matter.

Joseph put aside his pen and said in a deep voice, “Let’s go.”

Inside the meeting room was full of people and Hayden was sitting in the corner at the back as she was
a junior.

“ST Group started out as a high-end hotel, so it didn’t dabble in the low-end product line. This time, we
are planning to do a chain of youth hostels, so we need to do marketing research.”

After someone raised this opinion, Joseph, who had been silent all the time, opened his mouth, “Market
research is indeed necessary, but the information from market research companies is not very reliable.

a representative to go to the field to investigate in person.”

Hayden was busy writing her notes, so she was oblivious to the fact that Joseph had been looking at
her.

“After the centenary celebration, Ms. Downey seems to be very free, how about you be responsible for
this matter?”

Hayden was stunned when she heard this. She lifted her head up immediately and said, “Me? Go to
the field and investigate in person?”

From Joseph serious look, she got an affirmative answer, “Is there no one else?”



She had to take care and fetch Stella back and forth from school every day. Hence, she couldn’t go on
a business trip for long periods of time.

After the meeting, everyone stood up and left the room. Hayden was in a hurry to leave too, but she
didn’t expect to run into Joseph’s housekeeper, who was holding Noah’s hand as she walked out of the
room.

When he saw Hayden, Noah’s eyes lit up. He let go of the housekeeper’s hand and pounced on her.
Hayden froze for a moment, then she hurriedly squatted down, “Noah, why didn’t you go to school
today?”

Noah hugged her without saying anything, his silence was very heartbreaking.

The housekeeper, who was standing beside Noah, explained, “Little Noah has been a bit unwell for the
past two days. He kept coughing, so young master let him rest at home. He is better today and didn’t
want to stay at home anymore, so he made a fuss to come out.”

“Coughing?” Hayden subconsciously touched his forehead. Fortunately, he didn’t have a fever, “Do you
feel sick?”

Noah shook his head, but he looked so aggrieved, as if he were about to cry.



“What’s wrong? Who bullied you?”

Noah nodded a little, turned and took his own drawing board from the housekeeper. He wrote ‘Daddy’
on the board.

“What’s wrong with Daddy? Did Daddy bully you?” Hayden was puzzled.

Noah wrote again, “He doesn’t let me to look for you.”

Hayden’s heart was filled with mixed feelings when she saw this. Her nose was sore, and her tears
filled her eyes.

“I want to be with you.” Noah wrote again, and then he tugged Hayden’s hand and let her read it.

“Noah, come over here.” Joseph’s voice suddenly came from behind her, with a bit of displeasure.

“Noah, I still have to go to work now, so I can’t play with you. You go to Daddy now, I’ll come and
accompany you again next time.”

Joseph looked at the housekeeper and said in a cold voice, “What are you still standing there for? Take
Noah to the office.”

The housekeeper had to obey and pulled Noah away from Hayden and then forcibly picked him up.



Hayden was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to stand this any longer, so she got up quickly and left.

Noah struggled and suddenly shouted at Hayden, “Mummy!”

This was the first time Hayden had heard Noah speak, her feet stopped at once. She turned around
incredulously to look at the little one, who was still crying in the housekeeper’s arms.

“She’s not your mummy!”

It was Joseph’s voice. His words were like a bucket of ice water pouring down from the head. In that
instant, Hayden’s heart, which was burning with feelings, turned cold as she heard those words. It
made her heart filled with mixed feelings.

Joseph asked his housekeeper to take Noah back to his office and then walked towards Hayden. His
face was somewhat sullen and cold.

Magnus saw and understood what was going on. He quickly instructed the people in the corridor to
leave instantly. Hence, the corridor was silent, leaving the two of them alone.

“Mr. Beckham.” Hayden lowered her eyelids to hide the shocked expression in her eyes.

“Hayden Downey, what do you want?” Joseph asked.

Hayden frowned, “Mr. Beckham, I don’t understand what you mean.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a sudden pressure was felt on her shoulder. Her feet stumbled and
she cried out in shock. The next moment, her back was pressed onto the wall by Joseph. His voice was
extremely near, but distinctly cold.

“You rejected me, but you still show your motherly love to Noah. Are you trying to play hard to get?”



“You’re thinking too much.” Hayden struggled but she couldn’t move. Her eyebrows were tightly knitted,
“I just think that Noah is very cute.”

“You think I’d believe such nonsense?”

The force on Joseph’s hand was heavier than before, and his eyes were cold, “If you’re trying to use
this kind of tricks to make me think that you are so important to Noah, and I had no choice but to
choose you, then I’ll tell you now. I’m never threatened by anyone; your tricks are useless on me.”

really think too much. I don’t have any intentions to play tricks on you. All I have is just the respect as a
subordinate. Mr. Beckham, please have some self-respect.”

The word ‘self-respect’ kept reverberating in Joseph’s mind. This word made him even angrier, as if oil
was poured on the fire in his heart, which made his eyes blood-shot with
anger.
