Chapter 256: Whoever Wears It Looks Like a Gangster

“What did you say?” Hayden panicked a bit.

Joseph frowned, “Don’t ask the question when you know the answer. Addison and I have no intention
of getting engaged at all. We pretended we were a couple because grandpa has been watching us too
closely during this period. The reason I said such words while we were having lunch was simply that I
was afraid that grandpa would make you embarrassed.”

Hayden heaved a sigh of relief as she picked the carrots up from the water and continued peeling
them.

“It’s nothing to do with me. That’s your business.”

Seeing her cold attitude, Joseph looked a bit gloomy, “I have explained the previous misunderstanding
clearly. I think there’s no need for us to be like strangers.”

Hearing his words, Hayden dropped the carrots in her hand in annoyance and turned around, saying,
“Do you think that I will have nothing to do and let a stranger stay overnight in my house?”

Hayden turned a bit agitated as she was very stressed these days. When she was questioned by
Joseph, she could not suppress her anger anymore.

Joseph was stunned for a moment.

“I’m sorry.” Hayden frowned and turned around again to pick up the carrots, “Go sit in the living room.
The dinner will be ready soon.”

Joseph looked at her back and asked her, “Why can you be so sweet and forgiving to Noah, but not to
me?”



Hayden tightened her grip on the carrot a bit and explained, “Noah is just a child. Why do you want to
be jealous of your son?”

Joseph was speechless hearing Hayden’s words. When he realized that Hayden was not paying much
attention to him, he just stayed in the kitchen and washed the vegetables.

After looking at a tall man walking around in front of him for a long time, Hayden finally couldn’t stand it
anymore after half a day, “No one would wash the enoki mushrooms one by one. Can you go out if you
don’t know how to do it?”

After dinner, Hayden sent the two children to the bathroom of her bedroom to take a bath. He left the
bathroom outside for the two men to use.

After helping the two children to take bath one by one and hugging them to their room, she saw Joseph
still standing at the door in his suit when she returned to her bedroom.

“I didn’t bring any clothes.”

Hayden was speechless as she thought that she couldn’t find anyone else but him who was so
righteous when he did not bring his clothes but still wanted to stay overnight in her house. “Borrow a
set of clothes from Benjamin then.”

“I don’t want to wear clothes that had been worn by others.”

Joseph looked calm and said the words like he did not do anything wrong.

Meanwhile, Benjamin’s voice came from the bedroom behind him, “I don’t lend my clothes to others
either.”

“Then what do you want to do?”



Hayden looked at him, “Can’t you go buy the clothes now, right? Now is too late and there’s only a
supermarket downstairs. The supermarket only sells T-shirts that worth thirty Yuan per piece. Do you
want to wear them?”

“Go and have a look.” Joseph said, “It’s ten o’clock now. I think the supermarket should be still open.”

“You still know what time the supermarket closes?”

Hayden looked at him as if she was surprised and she teased him deliberately, “I thought Young Master
Beckham normally didn’t know this kind of common sense in life.”

Joseph looked at her, “ST Group is the shareholder of the supermarket downstairs.”

Hayden felt as if there were some words stuck inside her throat. She was speechless and finally looked
at him blankly, “Let’s go. Go to the supermarket in which your family is the shareholder.”

The supermarket near her house was a three-storey country chain store. The supermarket is big and
Hayden often bought the cooking ingredients there.

On the third floor, there was a separate area for clothing. There were discounted items sold throughout
the years, and many of the brands were nowhere to be found.

“This is it.”

Hayden pointed to the yellow card in the men’s clothing section that stated “Sale. Thirty Percent off for
Today.”

She said, “Pick the clothes yourself. They’re all sold at the same price.”

Joseph stood still, “You choose. I can wear whatever clothes.”

“Are you sure?”



Hayden gave him a meaningful look, “You’ll wear whatever I chose?”

“Yes.”

Joseph nodded directly without even looking at the pile of clothes.

Hayden raised her eyebrows and went directly into the narrow clothing section. She took five or six
fancy shirts without even looking at them. She showed the clothes off to Joseph when she returned
with the clothes, “Do you want to try them on?”

Joseph took a look at the pile of shirts which were surprisingly colorful and nodded his head while
being looking at by the astonished saleswoman, “Okay. Where is the fitting room?”

“Here,” The saleswoman regained her consciousness and led Joseph to the door of the fitting room.
She looked at Hayden who gave the pile of shirts to Joseph for him to go in and try them on.

“Miss, are you guys going on holiday to Hainan? Why are you all buying such fancy shirts?’

“No, he likes this kind of clothes.”

“Is that so?” The saleswoman looked surprised, “These clothes are only worn by gangsters. They look
so sleazy and have a big gold chain around their neck. They’re tacky. I don’t think your boyfriend looks
like this kind of person either.”

“He really likes them. Ask him yourself later if you don’t believe me.”

Hayden stifled her laughter and even had her camera ready. She couldn’t wait to see Joseph make a
fool of himself in his fancy shirt.

As they were chatting, the door of the fitting room opened and Joseph came out of it.



Hayden snapped some pictures of him quickly while saying, “I will send these photos to Alayna and
Kelvin. They want to…”

Before she finished her words, she looked at the man inside the camera. She swallowed her saliva and
stopped talking anymore.

What did the saleswoman just say? Did she say that anyone wearing these clothes would look like a
gangster?

Nonsense!

Joseph with a height of one hundred and eighty-seven centimeters was wearing a red and blue colored
fancy shirt with loose buttons to reveal a bunch of beautiful collarbones and the inner lines of his
pectoral muscles. One could notice his wheat-colored chest and his long legs were as straight as poles
in the camera.

He looked like a model, instead of a gangster.

“Wow, it’s so nice. Young man, you look so fascinating wearing this shirt, like the model on the
magazine cover. If you are willing to let our boss take a picture of you and put it here, many people will
come and buy these shirts.”

You didn’t say like that just now.

Hayden kept her phone in the pocket embarrassedly and sized Joseph up.

What the saleswoman said was right.

“How?” Joseph took two steps towards her. He lifted his arm and asked her, “How does it fit?”

“Yes.” Hayden nodded her head reluctantly.



Not only the shirt was a good fit, but it was also just like a tailor-made one. When he walked down the
street wearing the fancy shirt, many little girls might try to get his phone number.

“Are there a few more pieces for me to try on?” Joseph asked.

“No need.” Hayden immediately stopped him and glanced at the saleswoman as if she was rich, “Miss,
help me to pack the clothes up now. I’ll buy all of those.”

After buying the clothes, Hayden chose two more pairs of loose trousers for home use for Joseph. This
time she didn’t try to tease Joseph. She chose two beige trousers that he could either wear out or as
pyjamas trousers.

After the checkout, they came out of the supermarket and saw a table set up at the entrance. It seemed
to be a promotion going on.

Joseph took a look at the promotion and said, “It’s the chocolate that Noah and Stella like to eat.”

Hayden initially didn’t pay much attention to it. Hearing his words, she sniffed and looked at it. It was
true.

“This is a game which needs the couple to cooperate. The couple who gets the highest score will
receive a free box of chocolate.”

The rules of the game were written on the blue roll up banner. Hayden stood still as she stared at the
words “a free box”.

Joseph on the side was staring at the word “couple”.
