Chapter 360 You Regard Her as a Hostage

When Hayden got off the car, she was shocked to see the familiar house in front of her.

“Lorraine, I sold this house, right?”

Lorraine was asking her assistant to take the suitcase into the house, then explained. “Mr. Godfery is
worried that you are not used to living in another place, so he let me buy this house back after you left.”

Hayden was complicated in feelings.

The furnishings inside were the same to that before. The only difference was the Christmas tree beside
the fireplace. The tree was decorated with colors, making a Christmas atmosphere.

“This tree was decorated by Mr. Godfery before Christmas.”

“Did he invite his friends to have a party here?” Hayden felt the bells on the tree, and said, “He liked to
have a party before, and it was house-warming in the yard.”

“No.” Lorraine’s voice rang behind her, “On the Christmas eve, he stayed here alone for the whole
night.”

The hand holding the bell was stiff, and Hayden turned around slowly, looking at Lorraine with a shock,
“Alone?”

In the past years in America, Edison would prepare for a festival one month in advance. For example,
he selected and broiled the turkey himself for the Thanksgiving day, and he picked and wrapped the
gifts and chose the game on the party for Christmas day. Hayden always believed that Edison was a
fun-loving guy.

“Yes.” Lorraine nodded, with sorrow flashing in her eyes.



“In fact, Mr. Godfery doesn’t have many friends in America, and most the so-called friends are just
business partners. After you left, the festivals are just ordinary days in the year to Mr. Godfery.”

Different from Hayden’s understanding, Lorraine companied with Edison for many years, and they
worked hard together. She often saw Edison frowning. But every time he saw Hayden, he hid all his
worries and kept smiling.

When his company was confronted with the forced merger, he also made time to decorate the
Christmas tree and buy gifts for Hayden and her daughter. Lorraine offered to help with that, but was
declined.

Before, Lorraine considered all the time that he would go along with Hayden. Because there was no
other man who loved Hayden more than Edison.

Facing the gaze of Lorraine, Hayden suddenly felt uncomfortable.

“I…I will live in the hotel, and it’s more convenient.”

Finishing, she stopped the assistant who was lifting her suitcase. “Thank you, and it’s fine to give it to
me.”

“Hayden.” Lorraine stopped her. “Living here is more convenient than living in the hotel, and everything
will not change, just as before.”

Hayden pulled the suitcase to herself and turned slowly.

“It has changed, and everyone has his own life.”

Lorraine’s eyes got cold.



“Don’t you think it’s so cruel to say that? Why didn’t you say that in the past five years? He loves you so
much, but you used him and kick him away after the use. Why are you so cruel?”

“That’s your heartfelt words.”

Hayden took a relief. “Edison shouldn’t let you send me here, so you make it yourself.”

Lorraine frowned and said unhappily.

“So what? I have to let you know how much he has done for you. These years, you knew that he was
kind to you, but do you think how kind he was to you? And why was he so kind to you?”

“So you think what I should do to response his kindness.”

Her words made Lorraine stunned.

“I should run to Edison and tell him ‘What if we get married for a true marriage, and I won’t leave you. I
know why you are so kind to me, and I love you, too.’ You think I should response him like that?”

In a plain voice, Hayden looked at Lorraine.

“In your eyes, Edison is very kind to me. But you consider that I have married him, but he also treated
me as a friend. He never asked for my response, does he think that I will decline him?”

“I think the answer is Yes.” Lorraine looked at Hayden.

“If he didn’t approach me with the fear of loss, he will get more fears after I am really with him. There is
a knottiest in his heart, which makes him have no faith in love. He is kind to me, not because of love,
but the love hopes in his heart which will never disappear.”

Hayden gave a glance at Lorraine with a serious look, “As for the knottiest, I think you know it better.”



Lorraine was a little stunned.

“I go to the hotel. Please tell Edison that I am so tired and I don’t go to see him. We will have a dinner
tomorrow evening.”

Looking at the back of Hayden, Lorraine felt for the first time that Hayden knew Edison better than her.

Hayden reminded her that Edison did have a knottiest in the heart.

automatically avoid the harm, so he subconsciously hid the sad past in the bottom of his heart. And the
wound cannot be healed for burying so long.

The knottiest was that Edison had been abandoned by his lover. It had nothing to do with Hayden.

After getting the hotel, Hayden took a shower and then laid on the bed to have a video call with Joseph.

“I am good here. Are you worried that I don’t go back to you?”

Joseph curved the lips, “I don’t think that you will stay in America and leave Stella here.”

Hayden suddenly sat up, with a double take.

“That’s why you enrolled her on the list of the winter camp, and let me come back here alone. So you
regard her as your hostage.”

“It’s bad to say that.”

Joseph looked tactful. “I am ok with you, but the little girl doesn’t have a strong will. I worry that she will
not be willing to come back because of Edison’s kind treat. So it’s better of her to be my hostage,
instead of Edison’s.”



“Crafty.”

Hayden rolled her eyes, “You arrogate bad motives to him.”

Specking, her phone rang.

“I have to answer a call.”

Hayden put her PC aside, and paused after seeing the name on the phone screen. Then she pressed
the green button.

“Hi.”

“It’s me.” Edison’s voice was very low.
