Chapter 231: Removing Him from the Position of President

After being pissed off by Kevin Jackman, Hayden Downey went back to the company to work an extra
night shift. She was called out by Edison Godfery for breakfast early in the following day, yawning.

It was 7.30 a.m. and still not yet the peak time for buying breakfast at the food stalls. Even if it was,
nobody would be like Hayden and Edison, eating at the table leisurely.

Hayden was so tired. Edison put the peeled eggs on the small plate in front of her, “You look so tired.
Not having a good sleep last night?”

“I didn’t sleep.” Hayden waved her hand, yawning again, “I slept for a while at five in the morning. But
the office environment is too simple, and the sofa is very uncomfortable. I woke up before you called
me.”

“You need to take it slow for running a business. There is no need to overuse energy at the beginning.”

Edison, as an experienced person, was advising Hayden with sincerity.

However, Hayden was ungrateful, and she dredged up his past, “Knock it off. Five years ago when I
worked as a cleaning lady in your company, I always saw you working overtime. The boss’s office light
was always on all night, and we thought you might be a robot.”

“Even a robot needs to be charged.”

Edison smiled, not minding the rehashing of the old stories, “What’s more, you have seen an actual
bad example, haven’t you? After working so desperately, in the end, the company was lack of fund and
almost bankrupt. If you hadn’t saved me in time, perhaps I’m still sleeping in the subway station in the
United States right now.”

“Then the American subway does stifle talents.”



Hayden drank the soy milk, and she could still joke around, despite her bad mood, “How about me
going over there and see if I can seek a few talented people like Warren Buffett.”

“You’re still able to joke, so this means that you’re not down in spirits yet.” Edison sized her with a
warm smile, “Don’t you want to know why did I come to you so early in the morning?”

“Why?” Hayden asked lazily, not even concealing her perfunctory nature.

Edison didn’t mind either, and he said faintly, “I think you should spend more time with Alayna during
this period. After all, she will return to the United States with me in two days. And then it won’t be as
easy for you to see her as it is now.”

Hayden was shocked, “You’re taking Alayna back to America? Did he agree to it?”

had decided to let Alayna go to America for treatment?”

“Yes.”

“When are you leaving?”

“Before the end of this month.” Edison explained, “Letting you have more time to farewell Alayna.”

“For me? I’m afraid the other one not even intend to leave a single moment for me.” Hayden was eating
the egg, looking faintly.

“Who? Kevin?” Edison smiled mischievously, “Then you’re overthinking it. Kevin was planning to go
together with Alayna.”

“Huh?” Hayden’s jaw dropped, “Really?”

“Of course. Otherwise, why would he come to me personally? He was just asking me if the psychiatric
hospital that I arranged, can let the family member live with.”

“He wants to stay in the hospital too?”

At that time at Kevin’s house, Hayden witnessed Kevin thundering in front of her that the mental
hospitals and rehabilitation centres were not good to live in. Even a normal person would turn crazy
staying in those places.

Kevin would be bold to overcome anything for Alayna Cole.

Edison returned to the United States at the end of the month, so Alayna’s hospitalization was
scheduled for the same period.

Although Hayden and Kevin didn’t reconcile face-to-face, after that, Hayden would still carry bags of
things to his place. And she always went over to cook for them whenever she had the time.

With Alayna mediating their dispute, Hayden and Kevin were not embarrassed.

That day when having dinner, Kevin received a call. He had always been fooling around, but he came
back with a serious look this time.



“What’s the matter?” Alayna asked worriedly.

“It’s nothing.” Kevin glanced at Hayden, “Just that something happened at the ST Group’s board
meeting. I was asked to go back and cast a vote.”

“A voting?”

Alayna and Hayden looked astonished.

The ST Group was a family business, and Joseph Beckham was a man to his word. There was never
anything that needed to be voted on by others.

So there were only very few matters that could get everyone on the board to show up for a vote at this
time.

“They want to remove Joseph from the position of president.”

Kevin’s face took on a ghastly expression as he looked at Hayden, biting back his words, and left in a
hurry.

For a family business, the shareholders meeting was the main deciding factor for the company’s
manager. The board of directors would then vote on it after ranking the top five based on their share
ratio within the business, respectively.

Kevin was the only one who came late. The voting result was one short of his, and it was a tie for now,
with half in favour of the recall and half against it.



Kevin didn’t hesitate to vote against it.

As the results came out in the conference room, some were happy, and some were worried. Joseph
didn’t say a word, dismissed the meeting and left the company at once. He didn’t even have time to talk
with Kevin.

Kevin immediately grabbed Magnus James, who was catching up with Joseph, “What’s going on? Why
suddenly talking about the removal of his position?”

Magnus sighed, “Isn’t it just because of the loss of the project in Guangzhou. Harrison was not happy
while the board of directors spiced up again that a professional manager is more suitable and they
wanted to change the management model of the family business too. So, they raised this dismissal.”

“Where’s Joseph heading now?”

“The old mansion perhaps.”

Magnus held the documents tight in his hand, “Mr. Jackman, I’ll stop talking to you now. I still have to
drive for Mr. Beckham.”

After saying this, Magnus kept up with Joseph.

The car stopped at the entrance of the Beckham family residence after a while.

Joseph was cold and indifferent as he entered Harrison Beckham’s study.

“Grandpa, did you agree to the professional manager’s plan?”

“Yes. What’s the matter?” Harrison was practising calligraphy calmly.

“Nothing.” Joseph looked terrible, “What do you mean by letting Franklin be the professional manager?
Had you forgotten what happened three years ago?”



Speaking of three years ago, Harrison turned pale instantly for a moment.

Just then, there were noises coming from the outside, “Noah, wait for me. Don’t run so fast.”

Noah Beckham responded soundlessly.
