Chapter 196: Why Are You Here?

The moon was bright and there were a few stars in the sky. On the road of Ningpo, which was a small
remote fishing village, a white Land Rover sped away very fast, with an aura wilder than the sea
breeze.

According to the location sent by Kevin, she was somewhere here.

The headlights of his car shone on a car parked at the corner far away. He could see the four circles on
the rear part of the car. It was an Audi logo which was particularly noticeable.

Joseph’s heart throbbed for a moment. He stepped on the brake pedal immediately.

He walked to the car hastily to check if Hayden was inside the car, but there was no one inside the car.
The car hood was opened and the bumper was crashed. Joseph looked around and he saw a pool of
blood on the ground suddenly.

At that instant, he was so frightened that his heart seemed to fall into an abyss. He almost could not
stand straight.

“Hayden!”

He shouted and roared, but there was only cold mountain wind caressing him. He could not get any
response.

The blood on the ground scared him until he could not stand straight. He held the car hood by his side
and slowly squatted. His knees hit the concrete pavement. His expensive custom-made pants were
stained with splotches of blood and dust on the ground.

The moonlight shone on the pool of blood which reflected his gloomy face.



Although he tried to control himself to be calm, he could not help thinking about the worst thing that
would happen to Hayden.

He regretted it so much that he clenched his fists and wanted to punch himself twice.

If he hadn’t got angry with her before and hurt her like that, how would she had been angry with him
and quit her job to start her business? If she hadn’t left the ST Hotel, none of this would have
happened.

“Why are you here?”

Joseph heard a cold voice like an echo of a ghost from his overhead. He was dumbfounded. When he
looked up, he saw Hayden standing in front of him unhurt, looking stunned.

Hayden walked along the road to find the signal but she could not find any signal after walking for half
an hour. To make matters worse, her phone almost ran out of battery. She was afraid that she would
meet with a mishap, then only she walked back hurriedly, but she didn’t expect to see Joseph kneeling
on the ground half dead when she came back.

What was happening?

When she was still stunned, Joseph quickly came forward to hug her in the cold mountain breeze and
she could smell the smell of his unique hormone. She subconsciously struggled a bit, but she could not
escape from him with her little strength as Joseph was hugging her tightly as he wanted to embed her
into his body. He didn’t even care whether she allowed him to hug her.

After a long time, Joseph only let go of his hands and said in a vicious voice, “Hayden, do you know
that it is very dangerous to drive at night?”

Hayden pushed him away unhappily as he only explained so simply after hugging her for such a long
time.

“Joseph, are you crazy?”

A few hours ago, she met a goat when she approached a bend. She was talking with Alayna at that
time and did not focus so much on driving, so she quickly turned her steering wheel. As a result, her
car hit an old van.

She was not too afraid after hitting the van as she thought she could pay the old van driver money to
repair his van, as her car had insurance and it could be claimed following the procedure needed.
However, the van driver was very scared that Hayden would extort him.

The van driver came down from his van with a bitter face, checking if their vehicles were okay.

“Your car is very expensive. I can’t afford the cost to repair your car even if I sell my car.”

“Sir, I am the one who hit your car. Why should I ask you to pay for it?”

The van driver kept apologizing to Hayden and Hayden realized that the man did not know any traffic
rules at all. After explaining to him for a long time, the car driver only understood that it was not his fault
and Hayden had to pay him money to repair his van.

Joseph’s voice pulled Hayden who was recalling the scene back to reality. She held a cup of hot tea
that Joseph poured from the thermos bottle in his car and a packet of small cookies that had just been
unsealed in her hand. She didn’t even know how did he have so much food in his car.

“Then I said I will find an insurance company to pay for the cost to repair his van but he rejected. Then
finally after a long negotiation, I gave him 500 Yuan. His van could still work and he drove his van
away, leaving my car which had broken down on the road.”

Recalling this story, Hayden felt a bit indignant.

This is because the man’s van which was so durable was far cheaper than her car.

Joseph asked Hayden, “What was the car the man driving?”

“Wuling Hongguang, a compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle.”

After she finished drinking the tea, she felt warmer. In Ningpo, the climate was strange as it was
extremely hot in the day, but also extremely cold at night. If Joseph didn’t appear, she might have died
on the road.

“You still haven’t told me how you’re here?”

Hayden looked at Joseph confusedly.

Joseph didn’t explain to her much. He only told her that it was Alayna who asked him to come and save
her, and he was doing something nearby so he could be there very fast.

“Is it such a coincidence?” Hayden sniffed.



It seemed like she caught a cold when she was finding the signal in the cold breeze just now as she
kept sniffing.

“What else do you think it could be?”

Joseph glanced at her, “Don’t tell me that you think that I’m stalking you.”

Hayden raised her eyebrows as if she had consented to his statement.

“Do you think I have nothing better to do than to follow you to this remote place?”

Joseph was a bit annoyed, “If I really did that, then why didn’t I appear after seeing you having an
accident and busy finding the signal and had to appear after you had walked along the road in the cold
breeze for one or two hours? Then I’m the real phycho.”

Seeing Joseph’s furious look, Hayden suddenly felt that he was not so obnoxious when he lost his
temper, as it all depended on why he lost his temper.

“I didn’t hit the van on purpose also.”

Hayden muttered and drank the tea quietly.

Joseph felt like he was a fool who had just done something useless. He also felt suffocating as if a big
boulder was suppressing above him at the moment.

When he knew that she might have a car accident, he sped as fast as lightning without bothering the
navigation system which kept reminding him that he had exceeded the speed limit. His mind was blank
and he just wanted to find her on the spot.

When he found her car but saw the pool of blood on the ground, he felt like his world fell apart.



Hayden was now drinking tea next to him as if nothing had happened, leaving him gritting his teeth
angrily.

“Joseph.”

In the car, Hayden called him suddenly and it was a bit awkward at the moment.

Joseph pretended to be indifferent and answered, “What’s wrong?”

“Can you lend me your phone? I want to call Alayna.”

Without hesitation, Joseph borrowed his phone to her.

Hayden who had just received his phone tugged on his index finger suddenly.

He could feel the warmth of her palm and he was a bit stunned. He looked down to see Hayden’s
serious side face. She was trying to move his finger to unlock his phone.

In the next second, his index finger was pressed on the fingerprint lock. ‘Ding’, his phone was unlocked
successfully.
