“Confess?”

Joseph was driving the car, “Medical history? You also have depression?”

His words made Hayden speechless. She simply asked him in a joking manner, “What if I have too?
Maybe I knew Alayna from the patient group.”

“What if you have it too?” Joseph glanced at her, as if he was trying to confirm something, “Do you
want to hear the truth?”

“Everything is nonsense, except for the truth.”

Joseph pondered for a moment and slowed down the car, “If you also have depression, I am not as
troublesome as Kevin. I have no parents and my grandpa is almost 80 years old…”

“Touch wood!”

Hayden could not continue listening, “Hurry up and say ‘touch wood’! If your grandpa knows that you
curse him like this, he will give you a kick.”

“Aging and dying are the common things in life.” Joseph said as if he was talking about the weather.

“Forget it, asking you is just a waste of time.” Hayden felt a little helpless. Joseph was a person who
would not show any expression on his face even if the sky collapsed in front of him. He wouldn’t act like
Kevin as if the world was gonna end. So, what was the point for her to ask him this?

“What were you trying to tell me just now?” Joseph sped up the car. There was still some distance to go
before they could reached Hayden’s apartment. Looking at the speed dial, Hayden frowned, “It’s not
very important, let’s talk about it when we get home.”



A sense of complexity flashed across Joseph’s eyes.

In fact, from the moment Hayden said that she wanted to confess something, he instantly related it to
the man named Edison.

If Hayden could confess everything by herself, then the problem that was straddling between the two of
them was not a problem anymore.

After 30 minutes of drive, the car stopped at the entrance of the apartment building. Joseph sighed
lightly.

Hayden leaned against the seat of the car and fell asleep, showing no signs of waking up.

Joseph did what he had promised. He freed himself from his work for one whole week and took care of
Hayden everyday in 24 hours.

However, from the third day onwards, Hayden started to regret that she had made this request.

The reason was that Joseph was really a boring person. Everyday, he would stay at home and read
some books. If not, he would bring her to visit the two children. He was not even willing to go
downstairs to walk around the neighbourhood.

“What’s wrong with you to go downstairs for a walk? Don’t you get bored staying in the house with me
everyday?”

Hayden looked at the man in the sofa. She sounded rather helpless.

“I go alone?” Joseph raised his head from his book and looked at her.



“Or else what?” Hayden pointed at her leg, “You couldn’t expect my crippled leg to go somewhere with
you, could you? Please spare me.”

“It’s not impossible.”

The legal book which looked obscure and abstruse was closed in a snap.

After more then ten minutes, Joseph’s assistant, Magnus, came and left a brand new wheelchair after
he confirmed that Joseph really wouldn’t attend the board meeting this time.

“It was originally prepared for grandpa, but now it’s being used in advance.”

When she heard Joseph saying this, Hayden almost spurted out a mouthful of water.

Then, Hayden was reluctantly pushed out of the house by Joseph.

It was September, and it had just rained. When the wind blew, it became a bit cold.

Joseph was very considerate by putting a blanket on Hayden’s legs. In the elevator, Hayden couldn’t
help to look at the mirror. She felt that she was like a handicapped with amputees.

Her thoughts were confirmed when she met the nosy aunties of the neighborhood. They took turns to
come forward and care for her.

“Hey, isn’t this Miss Downey from the 22nd floor? What happened to your leg? Are you okay?”

Hayden explained all the way that she only had burns. At last, her lips was nearly worn out.

“Let’s go.” She looked at Joseph ingratiatingly.

It was really unacceptable to simply make requests. Initially, she just wished that Joseph could come
out for a walk, but she was the one who suffered at last. Why was that so?



“Okay, where to go?”

Joseph also disliked being interrupted when having walks. He wanted to change a place to continue
this kind of ‘romance’.

“Whatever. Anywhere will do. There is a supermarket over there and a park beside it.”

“The park is similar to the neighbourhood here.”

“Then let’s go to the supermarket.” Hayden covered her face nervously, “I guess no one will know me
at the supermarket.”

“Well, eggs are all used up , we’ll go and buy some,” said Joseph in a serious manner.

Hayden glanced at him, “Can you not buy eggs? What else do you know how to cook besides hard
boiled eggs?”

Previously, Joseph said that he knows how to cook, but the result was that he boiled ten eggs, all of
them were fully cooked, hard boiled eggs. Hayden nearly choked to death when she tried to finish
them.

When he heard that his cooking skills were disliked, Joseph pushed the wheelchair while walking and
pondered for a while, “I can also try to cook other dishes. I studied the recipe last night, it’s not too
difficult.”

Hayden glanced at him with contempt, “Is that so? Then let me learn what your ‘not too difficult’ actually
meant.”

For a newbie in cooking, did he had a concept about how much oil and salt should be added into the
food?

Joseph carried a plastic container, which contained shredded potatoes and green pepper in it. He
asked Hayden to confirm his selection, “These can be made into green pepper potato shreds, right?”

“Yes.” Hayden responded sluggishly. She pulled her lips open and said, “Buying ready-cut and
prepared dishes is what you call cooking, huh?”

“Save time, the supermarket has a good marketing strategy.”

Joseph put the container into the small trolley. He pushed the trolley with one hand, and pushed the
wheelchair with another hand.

“You push the trolley. I can deal with my wheelchair by myself.” Before Hayden could get hold of the
two wheels on both sides, a childish girl’s voice sounded behind her.

“Auntie, I can help.”

Hayden turned around and saw a five or six-year-old girl with two braids was standing behind her
wheelchair. She was holding the wheelchair with two hands and had an innocent look on her face.

Behind her were her parents.

The young mother, who was particularly gentle at first glance, apologized when she saw the situation.

“Sorry,” she frowned and pretended to be angry at her daughter, “Sophie, let go quickly. You can’t do
this.”

“Auntie can’t walk, I want to help.”
