Chapter 228: Because of the Green Card

Kevin’s words made Hayden’s heart stop for a second.

“Why are you asking this all of a sudden?” She looked at him warily.

Kevin looked relaxed, “Actually, I really don’t know much about the outside world recently. So, I only
found out that you broke up with Joseph a few days ago. If the information from Joseph is correct, it
means that you haven’t divorced yet, right?”

Hearing this, Hayden sighed in relief, but she frowned, “Yeah.”

“Superb.”

ability to make Joseph willingly become the other man. I truly admire that.”

Joseph is the other man. I married Edison because of the green card. I did this in order to apply a legal
identity for Stella and myself in the United States. That time, Edison needed money and I needed a

“So… Stella’s father is not Edison either?”

Kevin touched his chin and reacted with hindsight, “A deal? You said that your marriage with Edison
was only a deal? Why didn’t you tell this to Joseph?”

“He told you I didn’t?”

and he assumed that everyone was the same as him. what else is there to say?"



She had told Joseph that she married Edison was all because of getting the green card. However, he
was so stubborn and treated her like a materialistic woman that would do anything to get what she
wanted. What else could she say?

Kevin was stunned. As a bystander, neither of them was wrong. They were just mad at each other and
led to more conflicts, causing things to become more and more out of control.

“I don’t understand what you mean, can you explain more about it?” Kevin looked at Hayden with a
puzzled expression, “Why is your marriage with Edison only a deal? I’m curious about that.”

“It’s a long story.”

Hayden started reminiscing.

That was five years ago, when she just gave birth to Stella and Noah. She brought Stella with her and
escaped to the United States. Stella was not born in the United States, so her visa expired after staying
there for a while. Hence, there was only two choices for her to choose from. The first one was to return
to her country and apply the visa again, the other choice was to go back to the Downey family and tell
them the truth.

Either way she chose would need her to return to her country. At that time, Hayden was very insecure.
She was afraid that she would step back into the place filled with sad memories and she would be
targeted by the man who forced her to bear a child for him. Hence, she would rather stay illegally in
United States than to return to China.

“At that time, I was a cleaner at Edison’s company.”

“A cleaner?” Kevin was taken aback.

Who would have thought that a girl from a wealthy family could be a cleaner?



However, Hayden did not explain much about why she chose this job.

“Edison encountered a bottleneck in his business. He was short of 10 million yuan. I had the amount of
money. When I talked to him about lending him the money, he did not trust me at all. He thought that I
am a lunatic. How could anyone lend money without interest?”

Hayden still remembered that she wore a brown cleaner’s uniform at that time. She ran into Edison’s

pigsty.

peacefully in the United States.”

“What about after getting married?” Edison couldn’t help asking, “You didn’t live together?”

“Of course not.” Hayden shook her head.

United States and I was in the South part. The two places were separated by a strait. Whenever
festivals or holidays come, he would fly over to accompany Stella and let her thought that she had a
father.”

When the truth was out, Kevin gave out a sigh of relief. But right after that, he couldn’t help to worry
about her.



It was such a big misunderstanding. Joseph must have said words that hurt her deeply. He was afraid
that this situation would be a bit difficult for Joseph to win her back.

Joseph had to do something about it.

“I guess this is a situation where those who are involved can’t see the big picture clearly, right?” Kevin
observed the expressions on Hayden’s face.

“You see, I’m the bystander and I can’t completely look at this matter from an objective point. More or
less, I’ll look at it with some subjective point of view, not to mention when Joseph is one of the people
involved in this situation. He is closely related to you.”

“If you want to say something, just say it.” Hayden gave him a white look, “No need to beat around the

But when she thought that Joseph treated her so bad just because of such little suspicion and conflict,

“If he wans to reconcile, why don’t he come himself?” Hayden glared at Kevin fiercely, “And he let you
to come and apologize for him? His sincerity has been fed to the dogs.”



“Then you’ve really have wronged him.” Kevin’s face was helpless, “Joseph is still in the hospital, his
ribs are broken, he can’t go anywhere at all in the short term, so don’t be too harsh on him.”

“He’s hospitalized?” Hayden’s face changed abruptly, “Why is he hospitalized?”

why he was involved in a fight. But she really didn’t know that Joseph was hurt so badly that day.
Edison always had a good temper and wouldn’t go into a fight with anyone else.

“During this half month, he called me every day to harass me, and I am so frustrated about it. So, I
thought I will come to see what the problem is between the two of you. Now only I realize that there is
no problem at all.”

Kevin was good at talking. He had the ability to turn black into white.

“Do you think that the guy named Edison is the main problem? You and he are simply fake husbands
and wives. What can be the problem? Why can’t two people who really love each other, and there is no
problem between them be together peacefully?”

Hayden frowned, “Which hospital is he in?”
