Chapter 170: It Is Truly Serious?

When Hayden saw Joseph’s cold look, she felt as if a knife had pierced through her heart. At that
moment, the pain was so excruciating that she could barely utter a word.

“What do you say?” She could not believe her ears.

Even if she was not Noah’s biological mother, she would certainly not leave him behind after seeing
him in the dangerous fire scene, let alone Noah was born to her. They were lined together in the
bloodline.

Joseph was with a cold face, “You leave here. I’ll give you an answer in a few days. I’ll reconsider our
relationship, the compensation that should be given to you will be sufficient.”

The clear slapping sound sounded in the corridor. Several nurses in the distance poked out their heads
and glanced sideways.

There was a faint fingerprint on the right side of Joseph’s face. He slightly turned his head and kept this

Hayden clenched her fists and her nails were almost embedded in her palm as if such pain would keep
her awake and rational to maintain her remaining self-esteem. She glanced at the woman in the ward
and said to Joseph word by word.



“You can be blind but if your blindness harms Noah, I’ll definitely risk my life to fight with you.”

Countless doubts could be listed regarding the matter that Addison could appear in the hotel at a nice
timing to save Noah. But someone chose to close his eyes, turned a deaf ear and lost his rational
sense in which he could only see what was in front of him.

He was really blind.

After uttering these words, Hayden left without looking back.

Sadness and anger mingled together and this was an indescribable feeling for her. Afterward, she
rushed back to the hotel to have the second half of the meeting and when the meeting ended, it was
already late at night. All the staff of the public relations department kept yawning from time to time.

“It’s finally over. It should be under control by next Monday.”

“By the way, the back kitchen needs to be renovated. Is it temporarily closed or we should do
something else?”

“Ms. Downey, what should we do next regarding the matter of the back kitchen?”

Someone asked about this matter. After asking a few times, Hayden, who had been lowering her head
to pack her thing finally became impatient. She put the documents in her hand violently on the table
and said coldly.

“Go and ask Manager Duncan, this isn’t my hotel. I’m not the executive manager, how come you guys
keep asking me everything. I’ll resign next Monday and the handover procedures will be done
tomorrow.”

The crowd looked at each other. They were so shocked that they could not utter a word.



Jeff was bewildered. After hastily announcing the end of the meeting, he followed Hayden and asked
continuously, “Boss, what’s wrong with you? Why do you suddenly want to resign, you’re joking, right?”

“Do you think I look like I’m joking?”

After returning to her own office, Hayden sat on the office chair and her fingers moved rapidly on the
keyboard. Two large and clear words that acted as a title appeared on the computer screen as if with a
full of anger – resignation application.

It was truly serious?

Jeff’s eyes widened and he was so scared that he did not dare to ask again.

This was not the first time that Hayden considered resigning. When she first learned of the relationship
between Noah and herself, she had the intention to resign. At that time, if it was not that the
relationship between Joseph and her was determined; she would not let herself continuously work in
ST Hotel.

Now, since Joseph said such words, what reason did she have to stay here?

It was late at night.

In the exclusive VIP ward of the hospital…

Noah had already hit the sack. Addison was also arranged to rest in the next ward.

Joseph was standing on the balcony. He did not feel any coolness in spite of his face being blown by
the wind at night. On the contrary, he felt even hotter and more frustrated.

He came back from Beijing on the morning flight and originally intended to come back to give Hayden a
surprise. He knew that Harrison had asked her and the children to eat together at the mansion in the



evening. But, when he was just off the plane, he saw the news saying that ST Hotel had a fire. Magnus
also quickly received news from the hospital.

Overwhelmed with fright and anxiety, he rapidly rushed to the hospital but when he arrived, he did not
see Hayden. Instead, the one who was accompanying Noah was surprisingly Addison. In order to save
Noah, Addison’s entire left arm was burnt. This was a pain in which an adult could hardly bear. Joseph
dared not imagine if this wound was on Noah's body, what would be the consequences.

Hayden, however, came to the hospital only when it was evening as if nothing had happened.

He could not contain his anger, especially when he knew that Hayden only cared about saving her own
daughter although Noah was also in the kitchen.

Behind him, Magnus opened the door and came out. He handed a pack of cigarettes and a lighter that
he had just bought back to Joseph.

Joseph had quit smoking for a long time but not knowing what was the reason, he suddenly let him go
to buy a pack of cigarettes back today.

‘Swish…’. A blue flame appeared in the air on the top of the lighter. His slender fingers were clutching
the cigarette and he slowly exhaled the smoke after taking a puff. His indifferent features gradually
became blurred.

Magnus stood for a moment and said hesitantly.

“Mr. Beckham, the manager of the personnel department just called me, saying that Ms. Downey wants
to resign.”

Joseph’s fingers that were clutching the cigarette suddenly stiffened slightly. His brow furrowed tightly
and his face became even colder, “Do the formalities for her.”



These words sounded cold but if one listened carefully, they were actually mixed with a lot of irritation.

Magnus carefully sized up Joseph’s face.

“Mr. Beckham, I think there are a lot of suspicions about the fire. It’s perhaps not a lie that Ms. Downey
said she did not know that Little Noah was in the kitchen. Everyone saw Ms. Downey carrying her
daughter in her arms out of the fire scene. She went in but she did not see anyone else inside, then
how did Miss Sanchez know this?”

As Addison was injured, no one asked her about the fire. As for how she saved Noah, she did not
mention it at all. The people in the hotel also said that instantly after Hayden left, Addison rushed into
the kitchen and brought Noah out within a short time.

“Also, Little Noah was found inside the cold store.”

Magnus once again reminded Joseph of the strangeness of this matter.

Since Noah was in the cold store, if Hayden did not know he was inside, it was indeed impossible to
find him even if she went into the kitchen. From this point of view, there was nothing wrong with
Hayden’s words.

All various doubts fell on Addison at once.

Joseph frowned tightly and after a long time, he coldly spoke.

“Go and find out.”

“What about the matter of Ms. Downey’s resignation then?”

impatiently.



“Tell the personnel department to find a way to delay it.”

After Hayden woke up in the hospital, she received a call from the personnel department.

“Ms. Downey, we can’t approve your resignation application yet.”

“What? I can’t even resign.” Hayden had just woken up so she was a bit impatient, “According to the
