Chapter 175: But Why Didn&##x27;t He Say So

Arnold didn't keep Hayden as she walked out of the house.

The sun was hot outside, but Arnold’s wife was still feeding the chicken under the sun as if she didn't
mind the heat. She was obviously looking inside the house. But when Hayden came out, she turned
her face away as if with a sense of hatred.

As Hayden walked past her, she could hear the woman muttering, "Such a blind."

"What?"

Hayden looked back at her, frowning, "Whom did you say blind?"

The woman looked up with rage, "I said my chickens are blind."

The chickens inside the cage cooed as if they were expressing their dissatisfaction too.

This woman was certainly not crazy to call her own chickens blind. There was only Hayden here, and
the woman must be referring it to her.

Hayden looked at the woman, "The chickens are blind but they don't hinder you. But if someone is
dumb, that's really interfering. Don't you think so?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"The fire in the hotel had caused a significant loss and it needs someone to be responsible of it. One
would be ruined for paying the loss even if it's just a fraction of it. It's not a matter that could be solved
by just resigning. Do you know about this matter?"

The woman turned pale instantly.

"I'm staying at the B&B at the village entrance. You can come and find me if there's something you
want to tell me."

Hayden left the Bevis house without even looking back after saying this.

Arnold’s wife seemed to know the inside story of the fire. Hayden had guessed some possibilities, but
now she just needed to confirm it.

"You're back. Did you find Arnold?"

The boss's wife welcomed her warmly as she got back to the place she lived.

She was staying at the house of the fisherman who led her into the village. The view was lovely, and
many who came here for a vacation during the peak season. Almost every household was a homestay
for rural tourism.

"I've found him." Hayden smiled, "Where's the boss?"

"He went to haul in the nets with his son. A customer just came and ordered a box of seafood. And he
will be here to pick it up shortly."

"Is that so? It's quite good business."

Hayden took a sip of the tea and stared out the window, feeling the breeze.

After a while, a business car stopped outside. The assistant saw Hayden as he got off the vehicle,
giving a wary look, "You again? Did you stalk us? You're such a bad penny."

Hayden didn't know why he was hostile to her. She rolled her eyes at him and said with her chin resting
on her hand, "What have you said. I live here well and now you're trying to blame on me?"

"You live here?"

A cold voice sounded behind the assistant. He was startled and looked back respectfully, "Mr.
Sanchez."

"Yes. You can ask the boss's wife if you don't believe me."

Mr. Sanchez didn't ask anything but walked up to her, "Can I have a seat?"

"Feel free."

Before he sat down, the assistant, who was even more pretentious than the boss, called out to him,
"Mr. Sanchez, don't sit down yet. I'll get the cushion for you."

Hayden sighed, looking at the subservient look of the assistant, "Mr. Sanchez, where did you find such
an assistant? He's even more attentive than any secretary, even meddling with where to sit."

Mr. Sanchez hedged about it, and he sat down, "I found an antique rosewood armchair back at the
Bevis house. It's even more collectable than the bureau from its age."

"Is that so? Congratulations."

"It's considered a credit to you. Later, give your bank account to my assistant and he will give you the
due reward."

"No need for it." Hayden waved her hand and said carelessly, "I didn't help much. I'm just doing my own
thing. You don't have to be so nice."

Soon, the assistant came back and saw that the boss had sat down. He looked aggrieved, hugging the
cushion.

Hayden observed the two of them and noticed something.

Mr. Sanchez was in his early forties, handsome, calm, and even more mature than Joseph Beckham as
if he was remarkably well-seasoned. However, the assistant beside him was in marked contrast to him,
being young and energetic, looked smart but always blurting out.

Especially when facing Hayden, he was inexplicably hostile to her.

A pretentious assistant and a stone-faced CEO? Interesting. Hayden told herself.

After chatting while, the boss came back with his son. They handed a box of seafood to Mr. Sanchez
and his assistant. The assistant checked carefully before carrying it to the car

Mr. Sanchez gave Hayden a business card before he left, "I don't like to owe someone. You can find
me anytime to get back what you deserve after making up your mind."

Hayden accepted the business card and felt funny.

There were actually people who eager to pay back.

Looking at the business card, Hayden read it out in her mind, Cleveland Sanchez.

It was such a nice name.

Hayden could only glance at the name before stuffing the business card into her pocket as she saw
someone coming in the distance. It was Arnold’s wife.

She came faster than Hayden thought.

"About the fire, is it really going to make us pay for it?"

Arnold’s wife was tensed up, not being overbearing like she used to just now.

"It depends on whether the company file a lawsuit or not in the end."

Hayden was not lying. Such significant property damage losses weren't something that the perpetrators
resigned to settle down. Someone had to be responsible for this.

The woman blushed hearing it, "That's not good. We don't have that much money. How can we afford
to pay it?"

"That could only blame Arnold for smoking and caused such a mess."

"Isn't that the fire extinguishing device broke down? This wouldn't be our responsible for it, isn't it?"

Hayden frowned, feeling alert, "How do you know that the fire extinguishing device is broken?"

To control the orientation for public opinion, Hayden let Jeff deal with it right after the fire. Not more
than five people in the entire hotel, including Hayden and Jeff, knew the fire extinguishing device was
broken down. They declared the fire was raging, and the fire extinguishing device didn't work well.

But then, Arnold’s wife was so sure about it.

The woman finally loosened her tongue under Hayden's interrogation, "It's my husband who broke the
fire extinguishing device as he was fear of triggering the device when he smoked. But he really didn't
start the fire. He told me that he was cautious every time he smoked. He made sure that he had
stubbed out the cigarette and wrapped it inside his pocket to bring it out. This time as well."

"But why didn't he say so?"

"Isn't it just because of…"

Arnold’s wife was blue in the face and stopped talking.

"It's because of Baron, right?"

Hayden said the rest for her. Her voice was cold as well as the breeze.

"You treat Baron as your own son. Arnold knew that he had broken the fire extinguishing alarm and he
couldn't evade responsibility. After weighing and considering, he decided to take the responsibility for it.
At least he could save Baron, isn't it?"

After saying this, the woman opposite her went to pieces, stumbling, "You… you knew all about it?"
