Chapter 261: Mummy, What’s Wrong with Your Mouth

“The previous shop manager described that the lady was about twenty-three years old. She looked
beautiful and came over here with that necklace to ask who customized it in our shop.”

The shop manager’s voice on the phone was very clear. Listening to his voice, Joseph felt like he had
just drunk a bowl of hangover soup and his mind was refreshed.

There was a woman from the Downey family right next to him and undoubtedly, he first thought of her.

Six years ago, he didn’t interact with Hayden at all. How could that necklace be with her at that time?

the surrogate mother six years ago. However, Caesar, the housekeeper was very sure that the
necklace was not with her as he had asked the woman.

But he suspected that Caesar must have been hiding something from him about the surrogate mother
back then as he had suddenly resigned after carrying Noah back from the hospital that year. Moreover,
when Joseph ordered Magnus to look into the incident at that time, he only learnt that Caesar had died
in an accident. He also realized that he had encountered many obstacles when he tried to investigate
the surrogate mother.

There was a flock of birds flying outside the window. The sky of Nanking looked vividly blue.

Joseph looked out of the window for a moment in contemplation, sliding his slender fingers on the
phone.



“Please go to the mansion and ask Mark for a list of the people who worked with Caesar back then,
then go find them and ask them one by one about the surrogacy at that time. Use whatever strategies
you can think of, including threatening them and giving them benefits.

On the other end of the phone, Magnus was obviously stunned for a moment before he regained his
consciousness.

“Okay, I’ll go now.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up the phone, Joseph picked up his pyjamas from the bed and turned around to go into
the bathroom.

If there was really a problem with the surrogate mother, then what kind of problem was it that it caused
Caesar, a housekeeper who had worked for the Beckham family for a long time to suddenly resign?

Looking at Hayden who was lying in the bathtub asleep, he suddenly had a guess. But after a while, he

When she woke up, it was very noisy outside, Noah and Stella were watching TV in the living room.

be found, and Joseph was doing something in the kitchen.

Hayden rubbed her hair which looked like the bird’s nest and stood at the bedroom door for a while.
She still looked a bit sleepy.



“Mummy, why did you only get up now. You are such a big lazybones.”

Stella ran towards her and sized her up curiously, “Mummy, what happened to your mouth?”

“Huh?”

Hayden was stunned for a moment. After she regained her consciousness, she covered her mouth
immediately and slurred, “Um… I accidentally bumped into the cabinet yesterday and it’s swollen now.”

“Huh? Does it hurt? Mummy, let’s go to the hospital.”

Stella grabbed her trousers as if she wanted to bring Hayden to the hospital.

“No need.”

Hayden was very embarrassed, “I’ll just rest and drink more water. You guys play with each other.”

With that, she busily stayed away from the two kids and went into the kitchen.

She intended to drink water. However, as soon as she came in, she saw Joseph sizing her up with a
meaningful expression.

“Is it swollen? Let me see if it’s serious.”

With that, he walked towards her two steps closer.

Hayden immediately walked backwards, her face flushed and she lowered her voice, saying, “Don’t
come over here.”

“Let me take a look.”



Joseph raised his big hand as lifted her waist and brought her to his chest, “What kind of cabinet can
make your mouth look like this? How about disassembling it?”

“Are you done with this?”

Hayden was annoyed and struggled to escape from him. He punched him hard, “Don’t pretend to be a
victim after taking advantage of me.”

“I am not the only one taking advantage, am I?”

“Hey…”

Hayden raised her voice.

Hayden, who was in the living room, immediately asked her, “Mummy, what’s wrong.”

“No, nothing.” Hayden quickly explained, “I’m pouring tea.”

When she turned back, she gave Joseph a fierce glare and warned him, “You’d better pretend that
nothing happened last night.”

I need time to digest what happened last night, so if you still want to stay here, shut up.”

Joseph was silent for a moment, looking like he wanted to say something.

“What’s that look on your face?” Hayden frowned, “Do you think I’m unreasonable?”

Joseph raised his eyebrows slightly and said in a deep voice, “I just want to ask you. How do you like
your eggs?”

Hearing his words, Hayden’s expression changed and she immediately felt that the atmosphere was
unsettling, “Ahem…whatever…whatever you like.”



After saying that, she hurriedly poured a cup of water and left the kitchen.

Looking at her back, Joseph looked more satisfied.

If she had to take her time and think slowly to adapt to his presence, he had plenty of time to wait.

Since the state of staying together with her was almost the same as before, he really didn’t mind that if
he was considered her “boyfriend”.

Joseph even wondered if Hayden just liked to be sneaky like this. If that was the case, he didn’t mind
staying together with her like that for a while.

But it was only for a while.

After the brunch, Hayden was called by Dante to attend a meeting at the company.

Joseph had to take care of the two kids.

Before she left, she took her card and some cash from her wallet and put it on the coffee table, “If you
need anything, you can take them to buy it.”

Joseph looked stunned for a moment and then felt relieved.

After all, he was the one who said that he didn’t have any money yesterday, so he could only accept
them for now, “Um”

“The password for the card is Stella’s birthday.” As she finished speaking, Hayden suddenly paused.
She averted her attention from him as she directly told him the passwords.

She was a little flustered, as before this she had said the date of Stella’s birthday two months earlier
when he asked her.



Maybe he didn’t remember what she told him. She could only think like that.

“Um, I’ll leave first as Dante should be looking for me for something urgent.”

After saying this, she hurriedly picked up her bag and then walked to the entrance hall to change her
shoes.

Joseph stared at the pile of money on the coffee table for a while. When he saw the card from the
corner of his eyes, he silently recited the password that Hayden just told him and then frowned. He
looked up at Hayden’s who turned around hastily and suddenly asked suspiciously.

“Is Stella’s birthday in March? I thought you told me before that it was January?”

Hayden was dumbfounded and even her face turned slightly pale.

“Is that so? Didn’t I say it is in March?”

She turned her back to Joseph, trying desperately to hide her unease.

“No, you told me it is January.”

She heard Joseph’s voice behind her as he got up and walked slowly towards her.

“Yes, is that so?” She heard her voice trembling slightly, “Why don’t I remember? When was it? You’re
remembering it wrongly.”

Joseph had already stood behind her.

“No, you told me it is January. Noah’s birthday is in March. If you told me that it is March, I won’t
remember it wrongly because the date you just said was the same as the date in which Noah was
born.”
