Chapter 156: It Would Have Fallen Through Even if You Made a Good Choice

Hayden had a knot in her stomach as she heard Joseph talking about ‘others who don’t matter’. And
suddenly, she realized that she was once an insignificant person to Joseph a few months ago.

While six years ago, Noah was also an irrelevant person to Joseph.

In Joseph’s eyes, any irrelevant people who existed or not, would never impact his life.

Hayden’s heart turned cold slowly and gradually.

The next day morning, Hayden was called by the receptionist as she just arrived at the entrance of the
hotel.

“Ms. Downey, someone is looking for you.”

As the receptionist just informed her, Hayden saw a familiar person in the direction of the hotel lobby
rest area. She nodded at the receptionist as a thank you and then walked over.

The one who came in a suit was Harrison’s butler, Mark. He was hale and hearty, despite being in his
sixties, just like Harrison.

“Mark, why are you here?”

Seeing Hayden, Mark smiled, “It’s nothing. I’ve brought the information that you had requested.” Mark
handed the Kraft paper bag in his hand and said in a low voice, “Just that, there were a lot of
babysitters dismissed back then. It might take a lot of effort to find out any suspicious person.”

“It’s alright. As long as there’s a clue.” Hayden received it, “Come and have a seat in my office, Mark.
I...”

“No, thanks. Harrison let me deliver this to you. I’ll leave after that.”



Saying this, Mark patted on his suit and left the hotel.

Lillian leaned out of the front desk and yelled at Hayden, who was grasping the kraft paper bag, and
she was about to enter the lift,” Ms. Downey, isn’t that the Beckham family’s old butler? Why is he here
for you?”

“Just to deliver something.” Hayden waved the bag in her hand and distracted Lillian, “Keep up the
good work. Tidy up your badge.”

“Oh, okay.” Lillian stood straight, and she lowered her head to tidy up her badge. And when she looked
up again, Hayden was already at the lift far away.

“Are you dumb, asking such a question?” Another female staff sneered at the side.

“I heard the Beckham family’s butler called Ms. Downey as Mrs. Beckham. I bet that Ms. Downey and
Mr. Beckham had married.”

“Yeah. I think that the hotel will have great news very soon.”

At the office, Hayden called Benjamin over to her place, “This is the information that Mark gave me just
now. I’ll keep the original one, and this is a copy of it. Check anything still missing?”

“Nope. It’s good.” Benjamin flipped open a few pages and said, “Later on, back at my room, I’ll
summarise these data. I’ll check on these babysitters’ hometown and also their bank account status. If
everything goes well, I can set off after three days to look for them personally.”

“Alright.” Hayden was still a bit worry and urged, “Just let me know if you need help.”



“Relax. It just takes time to find someone. And it’s suitable for an idle person like me.” Benjamin tilted
his head, looking naive.

“Thank you for your help.” Hayden smiled, and she remembered Alayna Cole’s WeChat messages
before she left home this morning, “By the way, come to my house tonight for hot pot. I didn’t have the
chance yet to thank you for your help on shooting the video at the hotel.”

Benjamin hesitated for a moment, “Is Joseph coming?”

“I haven’t told him about it yet. Not sure whether he is free or not.”

“Alright. I’ll go.”

Benjamin readily accepted her offer, waving the data in his hand, “I’ll be working on it then.”

“Alright. Thanks for your efforts.”

Hayden was gratified as she watched Benjamin leave, feeling like having her child grown up to help her
out.

“Mr. Jackman, this is the latest design in our shop, designed by a well-known designer.”

In the jewellery store, the female store manager recommended a diamond ring that she displayed in a
box, smiling.

Kevin Jackman glanced over the row of diamond rings on the coffee table and turned around to ask,
“What do you think?”

Joseph was sitting at the side, drinking his tea leisurely. He replied without even looking at it, “It’s just
so-so.”



“Tell me about it!” Kevin frowned and said with displeasure, “Besides the size, there isn’t much
difference among them. Those designs that you mentioned earlier are used up. You can fool no one.”

The store manager was in a cold sweat as she explained, “Mr. Jackman, if you have time, you can
customize it. But isn’t that you want to buy the finished goods? Most finished goods are regular, except
for the size of the diamonds. There won’t be any fancy stuff.”

“Fine.” Kevin waved his hand impatiently and glanced at Joseph, “Joseph, I do not mean to blame you,
but even your comment on such a place as being just so-so, why still letting me here? Don’t you know
that Alayna is so picky? Do you think that she is an easy-going person like Hayden? My proposal to her
would have fallen through if I made a bad choice over the diamond ring.”

“It would have fallen through, too, even if you made a good choice.” Joseph looked at Kevin, “The
matter about proposing marriage, I would advise you to be cautious for some times. Otherwise, it would
be backfired on you.”

“You think I’m joking? A real man never drags their feet on such matters.” Kevin was confident, “I’ve
said that I’ll marry her, and I’ll do it.”

Joseph was tired of talking to him on this matter. He glanced over the diamond rings in front of him and
explained, “This store is actually not specialised in finished goods. I would suggest you wait for a while
for you to calm down, as well as the process of customizing a diamond ring needs some time too. Just
pick a loose diamond first.”

Joseph glanced at the store manager as he talked.

The store manager got the hint immediately and ordered her staff to take the loose diamonds from the
vault.



“Is it too late?” Kevin doubted.

Joseph put down his teacup and reminded, “I think you should worry about the fact that Alayna didn’t
even consider marrying you. Don’t forget, you guys haven’t gotten back together since your last break
up.”

“That’s because she thinks that I’m not serious about her. And so she refuses to be serious about me
too.” Kevin had a stern face, “I would have bought the diamond ring this time and see what else she
can say about this.”

Joseph was worried for a moment, seeing Kevin being so convinced.

Kevin was used to be goofing off since young. He had been visiting all kinds of pubs in Nanking since
the age of fifteen. And there were always many women around her. Even if some strange women came
to him with a child and claimed that the child belonged to him, it was nothing surprising.

Such a man who was used to mess up his affection would be unbelievable if he wanted to get serious
about it.

the unbending temper of Alayna was not only just a diamond ring that could handle.

As Joseph was pondering, the store manager took out the loose diamonds of varying sizes and placed
them on black velvet. The diamonds were finely cut and glowing brilliantly under the lights.
