Chapter 165: Had She Found the One

As Hayden wanted to call her father, she was stunned that her father just called a nurse.

“How long have I slept?”

Bentley sat up from the bed and leaned against the bed frame as if he wanted to get off the bed.

Hayden quickly rushed over to support him, but he pushed her away, “It’s fine, I can do it myself.”

With that, he got off the bed by himself and looked for his shoes. Then, he reached his hands to the
end of the bed and slowly walked towards the balcony.

“The weather seems nice today?” As he walked to the balcony, Hayden quickly went over to help him
open the door.

“Thank you.” Bentley nodded and went to the balcony, “The air is quite breezy. It seems that it has
rained earlier.”

As he said that, he suddenly stumbled and tripped over a chair.

“Dad!” Hayden exclaimed.

Bentley managed to stand firm constrainedly. He turned around in surprise to look at Hayden.

“Hayden?” He was stunned, but he suddenly felt dizzy.

Hayden quickly stepped forward to support him, “It’s me, Dad. You’re already this sick, why didn’t you
tell me anything on the phone?”

Bentley was surprised, but he also felt joy, “Come, sit down. What do I have to say? It’s normal to get
sick as we grow older. My condition is much better than others. It doesn’t hurt or itch, I just feel a little
inconvenient at times. It’s not a big deal.”



Hayden felt even more unpleasant listening to Bentley’s words.

“Why did you move to the nursing home? Didn’t anyone from home come to see you?”

“Your aunt is busy with the company affairs, and Chelsea is getting married soon. They’ll come over to
visit me occasionally. By the way, has Chelsea sent you her wedding invitation?”

Hayden hesitated for a moment, “Yes.”

She did hear of Chelsea’s marriage, and Alayna was the one who told her about it. She had many
friends. Most of them had already received Chelsea’s invitation, but she as Chelsea’s sister didn’t
receive any invitation from her at all.

However, Bentley was still sick now. She didn’t want him to be angry, so she casually lied about it.

“Chelsea has been spoiled by her mother since young. I knew she had a bad temper and enjoyed
playing tricks, but she was your sister after all. You’ll be there for my sake, right?”

“I will.”

“That’s good to hear.” Bentley nodded happily and held Hayden’s hand, “I knew you didn’t like Chelsea
and her mother. You just didn’t bother to fuss about them for the sake of me. You’re a sensible child,
just like your mother.”

“You still remember my mother?”

Of course, how would I forget her?” Bentley seemed to have thought of the past as he looked at the
sky. He felt many emotions surging up his mind and his voice was hoarse, as if it was filled with guilt
and regret.

“I still don’t know how I should face your mother down there.”



Hayden sat at the side and did not comfort him, because she knew nothing was suitable to be said at
that moment.

Hayden accompanied her father at the nursing home all afternoon. When she got home, she only felt
that the house was empty, like a huge box without any warmth.

At that time, Bentley thought that he had met his true love and decided to give up his wife who started a
business with him from scratch, but there was nobody by his side right now. Children didn’t mean
anything! Children's thoughts had never been in the same parallel space with their parents. Only your
lifelong partner could stay by your side forever, but it was really difficult to find a soul mate that suited
yourself.

Hayden’s heart throbbed at the thought of this. After sitting in the dark for a long time, she suddenly
figured out something and quickly took out her phone to book a flight ticket. Then, she went downstairs
with her bag and directly took a taxi to the airport.

The sky was completely dark when Hayden got off the plane. She felt really hot after getting out from

Joseph mostly stayed in his own hotel when he went on a business trip.

It was already twelve a.m. when the meeting ended. Joseph was surrounded by his subordinates as he
walked out of the meeting room. He exhorted Magnus regarding the meeting contents in the hallway
and Magnus recorded the amendments of the contract beside him.

“The conditions that they put forward are acceptable, but don't make it seem as if we can easily accept
their conditions...”

“Yes, I understand. I’ll contact them again tomorrow morning, saying that it is difficult for us to accept
their new terms.”

“Alright.”

Joseph suddenly stopped his steps in the hallway and the three people behind him halted too. After
glancing at each other, they looked towards the direction of Joseph’s gaze.

Magnus was startled when he saw the figure standing at the door of the hotel suite.

“Ms. Downey...”

“Umm, I’ll take them to another suite, Mr. Beckham.” Magnus quickly recovered from his surprise and
left with the other two assistants.

There were only two people left looking at each other in the long hallway.

Joseph walked towards her. He couldn’t conceal the surprise in his eyes and asked, “Why are you
here?”

Hayden took a deep breath and rushed into his arms.

Although they didn’t speak, such action was much more appealing than all sweet talks, let alone she
raised her head and directly kissed his lips.



Her initiative was quickly taken away by Joseph as she was passively pushed to the wall.

Joseph took out his room card and scanned it on the door.

After they got inside, the sound of their heavy groans and rustling of clothes echoed in the spacious
suite. Their clothes were mixed together and thrown on the ground all the way from the door to the
sofa.

After their passionate moment, the moon was highly hung outside the window.

Hayden laid in his arm as the flush on her face gradually receded. She sighed, “I went to see my father
this afternoon. My father was in the nursing home. It seems that my family’s company was all handed
over to my sister and stepmother, and they didn't really go to the hospital to visit him often. My father
told me, that he missed my mother.”

“So, you came to see me?”

Joseph fondled with the messy hair on her forehead and embraced her in a more comfortable position.
He closed his eyes while saying with a deep voice.

Hayden didn’t answer him directly, but continued,

“Although I didn’t have any impression of my mother, my grandfather and uncle told me that she was
an indifferent and proud woman. She had a strong temperament, so she buried all her emotions deep
at heart without pouring out to anyone. Before my father met Sofia, they already had problems in their
marriage. They rarely communicate.”

After saying that, Hayden tried to look up at Joseph. She saw his stiff chin and slightly narrowed eyes
that seemed seductive.

She swallowed her saliva, not knowing if Joseph had understood the meaning behind her words.



“My father really liked Addison before he passed away, but I was only thirteen at that time. Addison was
not even ten years old. Our parents joked about letting us engaged, but none of them took it seriously.
Later, something happened in my family and my grandfather regarded this as my father’s last wish. No
one asked if I wanted to.”

Joseph lowered his head and looked at her with a little tease in her eyes, “Do you have anything else to
ask?”
