Chapter 186: Is This a TV Drama?

Kevin’s sentence stirred up Joseph’s mind.

“Only Hayden, she broke all your bottom line, changed your principles, and even made you fall into
self-doubt. She is the first grey area you encountered in your life.”

Kevin gradually calmed down and sat back on his chair. He stared at Joseph’s with cold eyes, “Just
admit that you can’t live without her anymore. Don’t make a pointless struggle.”

Joseph frowned as he did not feel so comfortable as Kevin analyzed his character traits. So, he glared
at Kevin and coldly said, “When you have spent enough time in my company, get lost.”

He then left the conference room without looking back.

Kevin stroked his chin and laughed sarcastically. He thought that Joseph who did not want to face the
music would suffer more.

Kevin had not encountered many predicaments in his thirty-year life. Even the broken family did not
affect him much, although he was less unfortunate compared to the peers, especially the passing of his
father made him lose his childhood innocence.

At the funeral, it seemed that his mother, who had been running away with her drawing board on her
back for many years, had finally turned over a new lead and decided not to pursue her so-called
dreams and freedom, saying that she wanted to take care of Kevin.

He, however, was calmer than anyone else, telling her in front of all the members of the Beckham’s
family, “Go directly to the Financial Department to take as much money as you want, and don’t ever
appear in front of me again after taking the money.”

“What’s wrong?” Kevin sat up straight and asked her after knowing that something was wrong.

“Something has happened to the Downey family.”

Hayden’s father, Brook Downey, had suddenly fallen seriously ill this morning and was in the operating
room for resuscitation. He had not yet come out.

Hayden and Alayna were shopping at the mall and were about to find a place to have lunch when they
received a call from the sanatorium. Luckily Hayden had gone to the sanatorium before and had left her
contact number with the attending doctor, telling him to call her if anything went wrong.

On the way to the hospital, Hayden’s hands were shaking.

Brook loved her and doted on her more than on Chelsea.

Her bedroom was the largest room in the entire Downey family apart from the master bedroom. Her
annual birthday gifts were all goodies that could not be bought in China at the time, and even when she



was tricked by Chelsea into going to an underground boxing arena, Brook never scolded her. When
she asked to adopt Freddie, he agreed without hesitation and was happy to say that it was the first time
she had taken the initiative to ask him.

All of this was the reason that Chelsea and her mother jealous of her. However, she understood it all, if
she were Chelsea, she would also be jealous of having such a sister in the family, who was doted on
unconditionally by her father.

father will be fine.”

Alayna sat with Hayden at the entrance of the operating room, in fact, she didn’t know how to comfort
her.

A noisy sound of footsteps came from the corridor, accompanied by a very appropriate but also

Chelsea and Sofia were stumbling over. Sofia almost fainted from crying. One of her hands was
shaking in the air as if she had Parkinson’s, “Brook, Brook, how could you suddenly be like this…”

Chelsea who was with teary eyes comforted her on her side, “Mum, don’t be like this, dad will be fine.
Don’t feel so sad. Don’t cry.”



“I advised your father to be hospitalized early and he didn’t listen. Luckily this time he was hospitalized
and there was someone to look after him, otherwise, he would have fainted at home. Brook… you
cannot pass away. I can’t live without you.”

Hayden stood up. Her pale face flushed with irritation. She said word by word.

Sofia screamed and held her daughter, who had been hit to the side. She cried, “Are you crazy? Who
